So, here's sort of a back story. When I was in 8th grade I decided I wasn't going to school that much. After ditching nearly half the semester I was issued a truancy ticket. The ticket was for a couple hundred dollars and I was unable to pay it. The judge told me 1) my license was getting suspended till I was 17 and 2) it would be removed from my record if I did not get in trouble with the courts within the next year. This led me to believe that after a eyar had passed I was ok. I am still not sure on this. Anyways, not long after that, I was sent to a residential treatment center in Utah where I lived for 10 months. During this time, a presumingly follow up court date was scheduled (5/3/06) but I was unable to attend for 2 reasons 1) I was being held at the residential treatment center by request of my school/parents and 2) I had no knowledge of this court date. I know claiming ignorance is not a real defense, but wouldn't not being able to appear due to your school/parents holding you in another state be? So, fast forward now, 4 years later. I decide it is time to get my driver's license because now that I am 18 there are no restrictions on how long I have to have my permit, nor do I have to pay for a driver's training course which would have cost me $200, money which I don't have. After waiting there for about 3 hours, I finally got called up. It was then that I was presented with what was essentially a bench warrant for my failure to appear in court in 2006. Now, the juvenile court has moved and requires that I mail in details from my case and they'll mail me back what I have to do to resolve the case. Tomorrow or within the next few days, I plan to mail out the info and hopefully soon be able to get this all settled.

Now, my dad heard about this, my guess it was from my mother because I rarely even speak to my father. This sparked him into saying "GET A JOB!" Well, I'd gladly get a job AFTER I FIGURE OUT HOW I AM GOING TO GET TO THAT JOB! But no, my dad is demanding I get the job first, even if I have to take the bus to it. I don't want to take the bus as it takes you over an hour to get to where you could get in a car in <10 minutes. If I can't get the ticket resolved, then ok, I'll take it, but I'd rather figure out if I can drive first. If I can drive, I have the possibility to work more places, too. I don't understand why we can't work together and take one step at a time.

Additionally, my dad will not stop hounding me for being on the computer so much. In the mean time, my brother (who is 21) hasn't been employed and all he does is smoke/drink all day. My dad just bought him a boat and a motorcycle. So while I am getting hounded for something that isn't all that bad, my brother gets showered with gifts. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful for all that I have: a place to live in California, a computer, clothes, and an iPod. I am just sick of being the "failure" son who gets all the rage and aggression from my father.

Lastly, I fear that I am about to get thrown out of my house. It really seems like my dad is ready to do so, and if this happens, idk what the hell I am going to do with myself. I don't really have many friends because I have, admittingly, neglected my social life for the past few years due to my general dislike of people. I hate to be so negative, but my life really appears to be falling apart. I guess I'll just have to see what happens.

Ya, I started school Monday. I probably won't be on much, if at all the next week or two. Oh, and Alex is moving out, with the Xbox, on September 1st.

Find a job close to home. I work 3 miles from my house, which is great because we only have one car and my wife needs it for her job (she works an hour away). Thus, I am able to walk to work every day.


Better yet, tell him he needs to get you at least a bicycle so you can make decent time on your way to a job. That way you can look for anything within like a 10mile radius and still be OK.

It's possible that your Dad expects more from you which is why he pushes you as much. If your brother is a fuck up, maybe your Dad doesn't want to see you do the same. But a boat and motorbike aren't gifts you give a fuck up.

im sure you live close enough to a workplace to get a job. Just take anything atm, like anything, just to get some money, so you have it, and work out the ticket shit in the meantime. the situations suck though, you're dad doesn't really get it

Public transportation isn't that bad, I use it everyday. I ride the Trolley and then a bus to get to work, 1 hour 20 minutes commute time. Take a book, Ipod, play with your smartphone if you have one, chat up that cute chick that you like and have seen for the last 2 weeks... etc.
