I sometimes think the title of this thread is true, we're supposedly far more obese, impolite and hatred fuelled world than previous generations. However we have not had two world wars. We have not used nuclear weaponary in anger.

I genuinly do think we're teetering on the edge. Two world-scale wars and a cold war (read: if went ahead, the end of the world as we know it. Pre-nuclear science such instantanious descruction was not remotely possible) in the last 100 years along with hundreds of full scale military wars between neighbouring and far flung countries. With "headline" conflicts like Nam & the two Gulf Wars it's easy to forget that for years many Middle Eastern neighbours were tearing each other apart (iran iraq war, iraq kuwait, egypt syria, israel palestine) Needless to say there have been many conflicts elsewhere including eastern europe. However as prooved by the concept of a nuclear deterant I don't underestimate the human urge to survive above all else.

I really hate my generation, like really. I mean theres a lot of great people but it just seems like the kids are like becoming assholes earlier and earlier on, kids drink at like 9 years old, then you got that baby smoking at like 2 years old in indonesia or something... i dunno, they say we're gonna be the first gen to make less than our parents... that's really inspirational
