Default UPDATE* PS3 Community Update (11/18/10)

Hey PS3 gamers,

We are listening to you and we’ve been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community. We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned right here for all the latest info.

IN PROGRESS

* · Prevention of Valkyrie rocket exploding upon release under rare conditions
* · Prevention of Gunship failing to give player full control under rare conditions
* · Prevention of a rare issue where a player will get teleported outside the map boundaries under very specific circumstances


LIVE FIXES

11/18
* · Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared – in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match
* · Experimental slight reduction in knife lunge range – this is a trial change
* · Prevention of Prestige glitching – trying to prestige from Combat Training will reset your stats but not give you prestige

11/17 (full patch)
* · Improved matchmaking to find matches significantly faster
* · Improved matchmaking to ensure that players are more effectively matched to games with the best networking conditions
* · Improved host selection to ensure that the best host is always selected in the pre-game lobby
* · Improved party system to ensure that parties don’t get broken apart
* · Disable ability to join Private Match, Combat Training and Theater lobbies when searching for Player Match games
* · Server-side and game-side changes to decrease the amount of failed Film uploads
* · Weekly and Monthly leaderboards will now track all kills, deaths and assists properly (All Time leaderboards were not affected by this)
* · Prevention of Combat Training stats getting crossed with Player Match stats under rare conditions
* · Prevention of temporary loss of functionality when a button was being held down at the point of a disconnect
* · Additional fine-tuning of audio levels and ranges for footsteps and gunfire

* · Optimization to prevent friends list from spamming user while in game – will improve game performance for users with large numbers of friends

* · Prevention of killstreak selection getting disabled in Combat Training under rare conditions
* · Array: Added collision to prevent players from partially clipping into a tree
* · Launch: Added collision to prevent players from strafe jumping onto an invisible ledge at the base of the rocket near B3
* · Summit: Added collision to prevent players from jumping to a location outside of the map boundary when in Custom Games where player speed is maxed out
* · Havana: Added collision to prevent players from jumping onto an invisible ledge above a doorway at C2
* · Nuketown: Adjusted a spawn point that would spawn players on top of a mannequin’s head when that mannequin was randomly spawned in that location

* - Launch: User could access a small platform outside of the intended play space below the rocket gantry by jumping to a very specific location; now blocked from access
* - Launch: User could access a small area inside geometry at vents near Dom flag A by going prone and moving around in a very specific location; now blocked from access
* - Some users reported that weapon attachment challenges were not resetting after prestige; now all are guaranteed to clear as soon as selecting the prestige option

* - Online number counts were not updating properly; these are now reporting exact online numbers

* - Crisis: User can clip into LVT between grid zone A3 and B3 and see through to the other side
* - User can get an infinite number of 'Sam Turret', 'Care Package' and 'Sentry Gun' killstreaks (commonly referred to as the “care package glitch”)

I love how everybody automatically assumes that this patch will be, without a doubt, be the answer to all these problems. I mean I hope it will. But I sure wouldn't get my hopes up. The fact that TA didn't catch a lot of these problems pre-release speaks to the fact that there's a disconnect somewhere...

But my point is that I played MW2 for quite a while (days) before the annoyances really started to overwhelm the game play experience. The annoyances with this game came almost immediately for me...as for examples of w@w cant remember now as i traded the game in about 8 - 12 weeks after i bought the game, but i`m all ready thinking of trading black ops in bored of it all ready its like i had to pay for the privilege to beta test this un finnished game for them ,never seen a game with so many issues treyarch you suck at making games leave it to proper game developers..

Oh, so you have no examples of your claim that Treyarch's patches ruined WaW more? I'm only asking because I played WaW on my friend's PS3 when it was released, then again at the beginning of the year because of how crap MW2 was. If WaW didn't have such a dead community, I'd have played it a lot more.

MW2 had similar problems on release, which they sorted with a patch. Then the proceeded to ignore all the other problems that existed afterwards (rock glitch in Fuel for example). I'm not expecting this to cure all the problems with the game, just accepting that'll be a step in the right direction.

^ Honestly not just saying this because everything you say is idiotic, but I've noticed fewer frame rate drops after the patch. Before it was every minute, now barely once or twice a game. Not perfect, but it's a massive improvement.

Other things, I haven't noticed a change. I'll find a patch list and post it later. #hopingsomeoneelsedoesit1st

it might have just been today but i wasn't lagging or getting shitty hit detection, could have just been the difference in frame rate though, which I noticed was better but not perfect.

Diesel, are you new to gaming? I'm pretty sure I've asked you this before, but since when has a game been released with ZERO bugs?

Treyarch got the majority of the gameplay right. I see no need mention, or little complaint, of there needing to be changes to the core gameplay. And to me that is the most important thing.

I'm not a Treyarch fanboy, I'm not a fanboy of any sorts tbh. If there are problems with something, I will say it, but I will also try and backup what I say with reasons why. You just come on here and say it's shit then try and call out people when you're asked for a reason. I'm still waiting for you to prove that WaW was worse after it was patched, or was that just an exaggerated statement from you, like everything else you've said in your 18 posts of magic.

if you say there are only little problems with black ops read thier official forums Call of Duty: Black Ops anyone know when they going to fix the frame rate drop issues on the ps3 and as for one game with zero bugs it was scrabble as for w@w they patched the game to stop people going under the maps they made it worse thats why i got rid of my copy so soon and yes i have only got 18 posts on here but does that mean i have no right to an opinion an no im not a new gamer

I never said there were little problems with the game. There are major issues involving the spawning and parties, two big parts of the game. My point is that overall the game is good, it just needs a few tweaks to get it to great. Comparing it to the previous game in the CoD franchise, there were massive flaws with the gameplay from the start. Sure it looked and sounded nice, but with the broken gameplay it was a mute point.

The person mentioning Scrabble was saying it as a joke. Sure, lets compare a small time, dictionary based PC game to a multiplatform FPS game.

WaW got worse because they fixed the glitch where you could get under the map? Ok... Pretty sure that made the game 100 times better.

Anything you say in future should be immediately deleted to save the intelligence of the rest of the forum.

I just want them to patch the partying up/lobby system. As for w@w never had it on release but I have it now and don't notice these problems that got worse die5al. Guess they fixed em eh.

You could get under the map in Castle. They fixed that so he got rid of the game because he couldn't win legitimately. I think that's what it comes down to.

He's the guy who goes into the rock on Fuel, with a TI and Thermal Scope.

He's also trying to troll but failing because he has the IQ of a pencil sharpener.
