With the maximum knife range being 64 inches, the distance in this incident certainly looks more than 5 feet.

I don't understand why there needs to be a knife lunge at all. If your enemy is clueless enough to allow you to knife them without a lunge then you deserve an easy, free kill. If your enemy is facing you, spaying (or just about to shoot), you don't deserve that kill with a knife. Knives should never beat guns.
