I've noticed after the latest patch for the ps3 that my gun will randomly switch to equipment, for instance a claymore when equipped, or grenade launcher or even a killstreak reward. I know for a fact that I'm not accidentally hit the direction button on the controller. This has been happening to at least two other people that I know personally and I'm pretty sure I've seen it in the killcam after getting killed. It is very annoying and sometimes it happens two or three times in one cqc exchange. Sometimes it happens when I'm not even shooting. I've tried to search a couple forums and youtube and googled it but I haven't come across anything about it.

Please tell me this is happening to other people so that they will fix this POS game.

You've got a faulty controller. I just replaced mine, which was doing the same thing. It probably has to do with it being a dualshock, my new one is not having these issues. So yeah, replace it and you'll be good. It's just at the end of its reliable lifecycle.

I don't think that's it because I have tried different controllers, including one of the original sixaxis controllers, which is practically brand new. And the same thing happened to someone I know who just bought their ps3 with a new controller within the last week.

I'm thinking its an error from the update that effects one of the perks I use, I use SOH pro, Lightweight pro, and Marathon.

It's not the game. It's the controller. I've had it happen in MW2, BFBC2, pretty much every game. Even Crash Bandicoot 3.

Actually there has been only one reply that could be considered advice and the rest of them are much like yours, completly useless. And like I said to the one reply that was normal, I've already changed out the controller. So thanks you've been so helpful.

Stop getting all exited and panicy whan you get shot so you don't accidently, I mean the game doesn't accidentaly, press the wrong buttons.

Have you tried plugging the controller in question into another controller port on the console?

This happened to me (PS3) and it turns out it was the controller. WHenever i sprinted, it switched to equipment. If i used a different controller, it was fine

Mu brother stopped playing black ops because everytime he was about to do something he laid a claymore accidently. The only think I could find was that maybe as he inverts it it somehow is more likely to happen. This isnt a myth as some of you have assumed it is in fact a real bug , real enough for him to stop playing the game forever.

Maybe he could switch to the jammer and plant it when he spawns or play BB?

Edit: Why didn't I think of this before!? OP, play BB and you will not have killstreaks or equipment pestering you again.

Well I for one believe him, mainly because I've had something similar - whenever I play a wager match Gun Game and get to the Grim Reaper it tries switching for another weapon, making it f($*ing difficult for me to progress past that stage.
Now I agree that it's more likely it's a controller fault, but when it's happened after a game patch, there's no adverse effect in any other game I play, and the absolute killer being that it's impossible to actually switch weapons in a gun game regardless of what controller signals may be sent to the console, the only thing left is the game being at fault. At this point I refer you to Sherlock Holmes....

@Imunality, the up d-pad button makes you switch to secondary if there is no equipment
@jamesmsv the grim reaper thing is a glitch i'm pretty sure, and didn't they change it to RPG?

Now frag grenades have started screwing up. I go to throw one and I can't let the thing go. I'm going to get a new controller and if that doesn't help I'm going to delete the black ops game data from the ps3 and reinstall.
