***another attempt to promote discussion***
So i just responded to Shankopotamus' last thread on sniping being updated recently, and had an idea that might please both QS fans and haters alike. There's no need to go over the arguments, we all know the pros and cons of each side. What it comes down to is that QS fans want to be able to do it and haters believe that a OHK in CQC is overpowered for a long-range weapon choice. So, rather than nerf sniping so that it becomes frustrating for everyone, why not reverse the damage charts for those guns? Make snipers a 2HK below 20m, rising to the normal damage at range. Yes it flies in the face of real world physics but that's the beauty of gaming. That way there's no restrictions on players' skill in terms of weapon behaviour, only weapon damage. Thoughts? |

Hmm.
It's interesting, for sure. I dunno. Although I hate QS'ers, with autoaim it isn't hard to miss from up close, but it is nice having an OHK when you panic and try to noscope a guy, merely reacting, and get the kill. Since it's pretty hard to land one, a 2HK would maybe be frustrating. But I do see the point here.

Just have a sniper free playlist. I bet that will have more players than one that allows snipers, assuming the sniper's work like they do in MW2.

I dunno about that, I enjoy whiping out the sniper rifle for a change if my game's going well. Treyarch's first BO release was effectively sniper-free because it was so hard, it's not got any more annoying because people can now snipe effectively on more maps than before.
Also, I don't think many people get pissed off with someone for a legit across-map snipe, it's the cqc sniping that gets the blood boiling. |

OR we could all play on PC where quickscoping isn't really an issue because it takes skill not aim assist?

Right. It's the aim assist that makes it particularly annoying for me to get killed like that. Maybe they oughta have a sniper-only playlist? Instead of a free one, because then it will dilute the regular games and hopefully keep the koolkids occupied, while allowing traditional snipers to snipe when they want to.
Although maybe not such a good idea since kids who want to get montage clips will be scrutinized for using the "sniper lobby" to get their clips... like combat training...
