A 4th map pack? An extra £44 on a game within 1 year is just incomprehensible. Utter, utter shits. And to think I boycotted no. 3 because I thought that was taking the piss.

The price of one is taking the piss, but noooooo, no-one listens to me. "It's just as much as going to the cinema or as much as I spend down the shop." Keep telling yourself that, it'll always be hilariously over-priced.

I'm actually happy to pay for one map pack, but the pain grows exponentially with every new one. If I remember correctly BO was around £45 on amazon on release. I'd happily pay £55 for a year's worth of game, but £90 is pushing it way too far.

This is why a lot of us boycotted it and are $60 richer ^_^

I've told myself I'll never buy a MAP pack unless it changes aspects of the game. Like if it were an expansion pack that added new weapons or mechanics (i.e. new vehicles, ability to parachute in GTA IV Ballad of Gay Tony) then yes.
But honestly, even though the maps might be bad, they aren't the reason the game is stale or sucks. They'll keep things interesting for about a day of playing time at most, then your $15 is just wasted. $120 on a rehashed videogame just to have like 30 maps? Yeah, i'll put that towards something worthwhile.

Or a night out and a box of condoms...
...to be filled with water and thrown at strangers in the movie theatre.

Sounds like a plan
![]() In all honesty, I might get this map pack considering I've gotten the others. And IIRC, the Hardened edition was around $30 more, and the Prestige $70 more, but they got the old zombies maps for Black Ops. Getting those four and another one for $12 (or is it $15? I never remember) doesn't seem like a bad choice. That and I mainly play Black Ops for zombies anyways |

I am a realist and I fully understand that a company has to make money, but there are good ways and bad ways of taking it from your customers.
For me there are 2 main reasons I hate Activision for this I'm fairly certain it's them behind this rampant money spinner): 1) They obviously resented the fact that people played COD4 for 2 years and only paid them for 1.1 games in that time (I paid £5 for the extra maps). 2) They absorb the (comparitavely small) map-design cost in their original budget and then massively over-charge way beyond the cost+reasonable profit equation. Whether the maps are any good or not is irrelevant, no one likes to be taken advantage of. |
