This just fucks over people are good at sniping in any form. It's all about judging where the centre of your screen is so you scope in at the right place with minimum alterations needed. If this ruins the L96 for me i'm gonna be a mad guy.

The 'reporting cheats' option had better only be possible with theatre-mode evidence or it's just going to be abused by shitty kids randomly flagging innocent players.

In general I'm very impressed with what they are doing, let's hope it's not just PR before the event with no follow-up once the bugs start appearing.

Josh Olin, Treyarch’s Community Manager, recently made some comments against Quickscoping, referring to the act as ‘cheap’. This was met with generally negative criticism from the community, so Josh wanted to clear up Treyarch’s feelings on the matter and why they are working to combat it.

I’ll refer to this video with a response:

1] Explosives are not more powerful than Quickscoping. You have one, or two explosives – not magazines worth in rapid succession.

2] Anyone who Quickscopes will say automatics are easier; that’s human nature when defending a point. More importantly is the irrelevance of this point. It doesn’t detract from how frustrating and annoying it is for every other player when a quickscoper who has crosshairs taped to his TV screen can Left-Trigger, Right-Trigger before the scope is even fully visible on the screen. That’s not how Snipers operate, and is not a fair way to play.

3] All quickscoping kills are cheap. You’re firing your bullet, getting your one-shot-kill while the screen is still BLACK from pulling up your sights. You’re leveraging Aim Assist and the fact that the bullet will travel perfectly straight upon sighting in with a Sniper Rifle to get a laser-accurate, One-Shot-Kill. It’s an exploit.

4] It requires timing, that’s for sure – but it does not require aim. When considering the impact Aim Assist, and taping crosshairs on a TV monitor have on Quickscoping.

When I called Quickscoping “cheap” I wasn’t saying that because I can’t do it. I know I can’t do it, presently. If I practiced enough, however, I could be just as lethal as anybody with it. But that’s specifically what we do not want this game to become. A Quickscoper cannot hide behind a “well everyone can do it if they try hard enough” argument. Then the entire game would consist of people running around hopping with sniper rifles in their hand.

I know not all Quickscopers do it to be cheap. Some do it because they find it fun, or want the cool montage. But there are plenty of other cool things to make montages of, that do not negatively influence the ecosystem in such a resounding way. Think of it like this: for every one Quickscoper, there’s an entire team of angry players who find it annoying. “Cheap” is just another synonym often used to describe this frustration. It’s unreasonable to ask them to “suck it up” just so this tiny community of quickscopers (by comparison to the global community of players) can have their fun.

It doesn’t matter if a team of non-Quickscopers will beat a team of Quickscopers every time. I bet my team could beat a team of Quickscopers, no problem. But it wouldn’t change the fact that we’d be gritting our teeth in frustration the entire match, which is something as developers we do not want to see.

After trawling the internet, looking at several forums including this one and the official Black Ops forum and twitter posts from a variety of people[sarcasm] I literally want to break down in tears. [/sarcasm]

Here is what I can sum up about the internet today:
- JD 20 20 Has no fucking idea what the term "cheap" means.
- The apparent majority of people who think QSing is overpowered of all things needs their shitty brain looked at.
- A lot of people seem to be taking up the argument that QSing is unrealistic thus should be got rid of... I seriously hope everyone on this forum can see through the insane logic there.

No matter what they do, no matter how they nerf it, no matter how much the n00bz B h8in, people will still quickscope. I will still quickscope. The sniping community will still watch the montages and people will still subscribe to OpTic and zzirGrizz. Nobody can get it through their thick fucking skull that we quickscope for the challenge and to make ourselves the underdog so when we still do well, we know we are 10x better than anyone using regular guns. I welcome Treyarch 'gimping' the snipers because its just one more challenge to shit on people in spite of.
