Unhappy Variable scope and tactical layout

I play on tactical layout and depend on it alot so I dont want to go back to knifing like a whore but my problem is that when it comes down to using the variable scope on my L96A1 I have to press circle when I would rather press L3.
What I do is change my layout changing it so many times isnt fun plus I may my behind and enemy and in the attempt to knife him dive to the ground and get killed...

Is there a way to change this or will there be?

Don't use the variable scope.

Problem solved.

seems daft to me to change your layout to have it geared around 1 attachment. I have no really problem using variable scope (or knifing) on circle button Sniping itself yes, but not the zoom.

Meh, it doesn't bother me. I dont use variable scope anymore after trying it, but unless you're planning on, um, zoomscoping? like scope in, zoom on enemy and take the shot quickly (ive seen kids do this, i guess they really have to do something cool with a sniper)

pressing B or O shouldn't be a problem.

How exactly would that ever help you? There isn't a single map which is large enough to do such a thing.
I remember doing the longshot contract & litterally not being able to get enough distance to actually get the longshot bonus.

Yeah, Igna, it really isn't necessary. If you can aim, you don't need the zoom. Plus zooming in makes your peripheral vision absolutely and utterly shitty, there could be a guy standing right next to your target looking right at you but since you're zoomed in you can't see 90% of what you could scoped out

I understand what you say but lets say... array.

Today I managed a headshot thanks to the zoom.

So what do you recomend I attach to my L96?

Array is the only map that you could justify it's use on. Array is the map that I completed my longshot contract on, I couldn't get it on any other map.
I personally use extended mags, because it's pretty much the only useful attachment there is for the gun.

Ext mags is an attachment that isn't situational & will always be useful.
Variable zoom is useful on 1 map (I honestly can't think of any other, I only recall ever getting another longshot all the way across the map on jungle, opposite sides of the B domination flag). On top of that it apparantly gives you other problems, so why on earth would you want to use it?

There's probably a couple of lines of sight on Grid that have the required length. I also failed that contract by 50%, I expected it to be a lot easier than it was.

I think Havana, Array, Jungle and possibly WMD could be useful for this scope

The scope isn't useful on those maps. It's simply not terrible, yet still inferior to ext mags.

You never really need the extra zoom & the extra zoom only comes into play after you already spotted your target. You risk of missing a target if you fully zoom in before spotting them.

And again, I honestly don't get why you persist in wanting to use this attachment. You make a thread because you have problems using it, multiple people tell you why you shouldn't use it, give you way better alternatives, yet you still defend it? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

I do understand and actually I have changed to ext mags.
I've noticed that the variable unzoomed is shit... its like an acog so the variable only offers one extra zoom distance which isn't that great. However it really helps on those maps

It helps as much as an aspirine would replace morphine.
