Hacked lobby INFO (important)

DO NOT QUIT. ALWAYS CTRL + ALT + DEL select steam and choose "end proccess." Then select IW4mp.exe (MW2) and choose "end proccess."

This will stop you being rank-hacked permanently EVEN if you enter a hacked lobby. Also, useful reassurance:

"As it stands, you will NOT be banned for playing in a hacked server regardless of what it does to your rank/config file. You will not be banned for adding/deleting or modifying your config file".

Essentially, if steamcloud syncs your hacked profile you've pretty much had it, your only option will be to prestige (but what if you're already P10 from previous hacked lobbies...?)

That is from a stickied topic in the "MW series" (thus includes MW1 & 2) steam forums.

Although, the steam website also says "you don't need to report cheaters. VAC will ban them automatically" and that's obviously a lie (equal in size to 402's "the biggest benefit of IWnet is no cheaters" spiel I think?)

Oh ok. Yea and I saw FourZeroTwo post somewhere today and say that the spinning 10th prestige emblem can only be got if you've been in a hacked server and that is how they are going to kick hackers, kick everyone with that emblem even though it wasn't there fault. Is all just a load of shit though.

omg i just joined a hacked lobby-everybody was using intervention and when i quitted i saw i was lvl 70.after that i pressed ctr-alt-del and shutted down steam and then mw2.will i still be lvl 70 or i will be back to my initial lvl??

lol i had read this thread but quitted trhe game and then did that.i ended up staying lvl70....

Maybe it was a slight oversight to forget to mention you MAY still have to do the anti-rank hack procedure (deleting current rank, changing filenames of backed up ranks etc) although I'm suprised that ctrl + alt + del still left you level 70 - that suggests your rank updates in real time ?!?!?!

Still check out Problems & Solutions sticky as it's probably still possible for you to get your rank back (unless you have a very high end PC or a very old PC - then it gets complicated)





OH FOR **** SAKE.

I can't even follow my own advice... I used ctrl + alt + del to force MW2 to end, not to force steam to end. Now I'm P10 level 70 AND steamcloud has uploaded my rank onto the internet so I can do whatever I want with my rank on my PC (e.g. delete it) and it'll just download the stupid P10 level 70 profile again...

Yea I get that too. When I try and get out of mw2 by task manager it closes steam as well.

The whole idea of this task manager concept btw is to get STEAM to exit improperly. The only way to stop steamcloud syncing is to close down steam unexpectedly.

I never get put on hacked servers because I own DLC & thus get put on a different playlist for all the game types.

No doubt there still is hacked servers on it, just considerably less. Atleast in the Pacific Region.

Very first post in this thread. It is is quotation marks, otherwise known as speech marks, or even inverted comma's, so it is a quote from someone at sometime.

get put on a differnt playlist? i also own dlc and still get put into hacked servers now and then when i play free for all.


so i recently got put in a hacked server that ranked me to 70 before i left which was fairly quick once i realized it was a hacked server but the damaged had been done and i had been leveled to 70.. at the time i did not know about the ctrl alt delete method. am i now farked? or can i still use the other anti hack method? cause right now my game crashes before i can usually finish a round and i don't know if it has to do with that stupid hacked server.

you MIGHT still be able to recover it. I say "might" because it just depends on so many random things, for example if you have MW2 on an SSD then you are probably not going to be able to get ya rank but.

Look in the "technical issues" forum and read the steps in the "known problems and solutions" sticky. There are about 4 methods to try to recover your rank. There may actually be a link in my sig, can't recall.
