Im new and completely ignorant to most of this. I was curious about PC vs Console myslef and searched out this thread. So basically after reading all this its clear that PC gaming is for more hardcore players as you can mod games anyway you want to a point. I grew up playing on the first Vic 20s etc. I never liked playing games on PCs as it was always a pain with a mouse etc. I guess these new PCs its faster? Graphics better? I changed to Console for gaming only because of the superior graphics isnt it still the case or not?

One other ignorant question? Ranking on games such as COD2 Modern Warfare are they completely seperate from each other? That is PC or Console.

There really is no reason to take a joystick over a mouse 'n' keyboard for most game types. As soon as you spend a few hours (That's seriously all it takes. Just play Quake or something for a few hours and you won't even notice the transitionary period) getting used to mouse control, you'll begin to realised just how restrictive joysticks are.

Regarding graphical power, PCs have always been ahead of consoles in that regard. I don't know what gaming PCs you've been seeing but I can assure you that PCs are, by nature, always ahead of consoles in terms of hardware.

Console-PC gameplay integration doesn't really exist. That's because of the massive disparity in capability between players on each platform. Let's take CoD as an example. The game itself changes completely once you realise that console play is conducted mostly by autoaim. That makes any meaningful comparison in player skill absolutely pointless. The only cross-platform multiplayer game that I know of (Shadowrun or something. I cba to look it up) failed miserably. PC players utterly dominated using their superior controls even with severe restrictions put in place to drag them further in line with that joystick users are capable of. Needless to say, cross-platform play doesn't have much potential until the control issues for consoles are rectified. The same applies to leaderboards and everything else.

My first pc fps exp was css at an internet cafe. I had played loads of ps2 beofre this.
After 2 hours, i have actually not played on console again (2 years ago)
