The game may be brilliant, but I thought Origin was w*** and it seems it hasn't been improved since BF3 beta. Why is gaming so hard these days? Why can't I just pick MP, then pick a server.

I agree it's brilliant, but am I the only one suffering hit detection problems? It was fine in the beta and also on day-one but now it seems I can't hit shit with the sniper rifle and subs/ARs only if the target is slow or stationery. Getting pretty f*£$&ng annoying considering my KD dropped from 1.25 to 0.6 in 3 days. And yes, I have excluded all non-local servers in the filter options.
Funny thing is I still think it's going to be better than MW3, adding TDM as a game type gives that fast-paced option the game was lacking, sometimes it seems they only last 3-4 minutes.

I'm not going to judge the game fully until the first patch is out. Hopefully they can improve the hit detection/lag issues, and they have to fix the VOIP problems. Other than that, and a few game balancing issues I haven't really had any problems.

Haven't really played TDM, will probably play it if I'm online and no-one else is.

I highly recommend it as a change of pace, it's insanely quick as far as BF goes, pretty much COD small-map pace. First team to 100 kills wins and I don't think a single game has lasted more than 5 minutes. My only gripe is that you spawn randomly and more than once i've spawned literally right in front or behind an enemy. I'm sure that'll also get sorted in the inevitable patch.
Squad TDM sounds like fun, 4 squads all against eachother + one vehicle in the middle of the map. We should give that a go some time.

Seriously games work well on their own. Leave them be. At the most, support one program that can do everything for all games without being annoying, say xfire.

I'm not on PC so am hardly well-qualified to answer 'why' but.....
In my experience it's more and more common nowdays for money to be behind the reason. Somewhere someone is making money from the fact you have to add a superfluous link in the chain. I mean, who looked at the process of "insert disc, play game" and thought "This is not an effective way of loading a game, there must be a better way". The only reason must be that money is involved. It's fracking annoying.
I'm sure that's also why you have to visit battlelog to see all your BF3 stats (funny how the most important, W/L is not available in-game). It makes no sense otherwise, I just can't work out why yet, maybe they just want the site traffic boosted for some reason.

Anyway, I could care less about the game launching from the browser, granted yes I would have liked to see the game as an actual game but I'm not going to complain too much. I have had no issues running BF3 at all, just some server lag attributed to 64 man servers on Caspian Border. BTW I still can't figure out how to fly choppers =/ I think in theory BattleLog was great but the way it's been implemented has been a bit sketchy. For PC at least.

EA is going to make all their games Origin exclusive ie no more Steam for upcoming EA games. Although you can buy the digital version from Amazon...

Anyway running BF3 on auto settings = High/Ultra with minimum FPS of mid 50's at 1080p.

Nah had it for about 18 months, dont get many opportunities to wear it though. It went missing for a while (in a cupboard), still can't find the feather.

Couple more for you then James.
First is a ridiculous 1 off shot and the second really is one of the best minutes of sniping you will see.

BF3 is fun given the increase in variety and number of weapons, attachments and specialisations.

Something about the recoil/running animation/model feels even more disconnected than BF2. Find it very hard to kill anything with less than 11 - 15 shots.

Prefer BC2 probably. Destructable environment was much more impressive in BC2. Hardly anything to destroy/damage in BC3. It's all hills and terrain or massive buildings.
