BF3 on PC: wtf do I do? - Modern Warfare 2 Forum: Free Call of Duty MW2 Community

A lot is familar. Some stuff isn't. Questions.

1) Ping. Where is it? Hold tab (or w/e) and I see everyone's ping except mine which has a dash -

2) Planes. I sit on the runway in an empty server and nothing happens. Throttle up/down, afterburners and enter/exit doesn't work. Flaps & change view etc work. Server says "requires 3 more players." Is this to enable scoring, or can you just not move your character at all in an empty server?

3) Network smoothing factor. Yay or nay? or middle? Of course if I knew my own ping I could work this out.

4) Graphics settings. Game seems to be a massive CPU hog? I get nigh-on same FPS whether min/max settings. FPS flucuates wildly. See next point.

5) I do have a GTX460/550/560/570 so I also get the lovely random missing textures and black triangles. Beta 290.53 did not fix this. Hopefully when a working driver is released FPS may be much more stable.

6) What sort of FPS do you get & settings you use? As far as I can tell the game looks inferior to BF:BC2 and I get half the FPS.

2.You cannot move at all in an empty server. Spin jump and switch weapons is all you can do while you are stuck to the spot.

4.Yes it is very cpu intensive it seems. People with above minimum requirements still struggle with cpu bottleneck.

6. Most people who have a rig capable of only medium settings report around the 30fps mark. Ones with kick ass gaming rigs that can run on Ultra all seem to perform at a higher FPS no one on these settings seems to drop below 40 fps and most experience over 60fps. some claim +90 fps.

I haven't played this on pc at all. So the answers are based on the posts on the fourm I mod and from word of mouth fronm people like Oz.
Sure Oz will answer better when he can.
