So, I've been busy and have yet to give my new (cheap) headset a try but I don't really know the steps...I have Vent downloaded but can't seem to access the server our amazing ViS is on.
I also know that we can chat through the game as I am constantly muting tards in the lobby, but I don't know if there is anything to set up in the game.Pub*'s talk me through this, so I can finally talk to you! |

Caliente I'm not sure what you mean, my request was for the Pub*'s to get on here and tell me what to do.
ViS, I've been working 12 hour days which is why I haven't been on. Probably have to work this weekend too. FFFFFFFFFF- right. |

Not sure what your problem is, though it doesnt have to do with your headset if you cant get on the server.
Pubstar Server runs on vent 3.0 i believe, make sure you got the right ip, port number & pw. Also make sure you enter the pw in the right box, server pw n not channel pw (iirc, not at my pc atm) to tweak your muc, you gotta test with somebody ingame. |

So, I was thinking of buying a headset to use for gaming and more specifically MW2 on the PC.
My budget is ~£40 and I am currently looking at the Creative Fatal1ty or Turtle Beach X1s. Or I could go for some cheaper Plantronics 377s. I thought I would ask on here first though in case there is anything better. Any advice or recommendations is greatly appreciated.

I just got the Turtle Beach about two weeks ago. Really awesome! I usualy play late at night so it's nice to mute the TV or my monitor when I play. Plus it helps when my little one is sleeping.

Hmm... Turtle Beach's are £40 though.
What about the Creative Fatal1ty's for £19? That's surely a good deal.

Gotta think, "you get what you pay for". I would rather spend a little more on something that will last longer, and has a better reputation.
I have AxPro's and they cost quite a bit, but they are excellent and have been worth every cent.

I would love a pair of AxPro's but saving money isn't really what I do. Well, the Creatives RRP is £50 and for £19, I think is a bargain.
Also been recommended Sennheiser Pc151's. Anybody seen these before? £30 on Amazon I believe and they're supposed to be excellent for the price range. Good quality/decent price or not as good quality/even better price?

User reviews mean jacks shit. Most reviewers have only used one set of headphones in their entire lives or similar.

While ViS is right, some user reviews are a bit lax since they have nothing to compare to...you need to look for the comments from users who compare to other models of the same brand or different brands. Some tech sites have "expert" reviews, but take into consideration your budget and what you want out of them. If you aren't super picky about what you get, go with the cheaper ones. But if you want more quality and willing to pay for it...then go with that option.
Ultimately no right or wrong, just what suits your needs/tastes. But do some research, just to make sure you aren't getting ripped off. ![]() I haven't used either brand, but I know some TB users that swear by them. Although I have a friend that recently made the move to Trittons and love them.

No. That is THE worst advice for someone going out to spend money.
There will be optimal headsets for every price range. Turtle Beach markets budget headset at premium prices because they're the only brand that most console gamers know about. Brands like Sennheiser, however, have a reputation to keep that is mostly propogated by professionals and audiophiles and provide perfect price/performance, even in their low-end gear. |

Not really, only buy what you need/want, why buy something you don't like or need? =/
But yeah there are some cheap Turtle Beaches available that will do the job

Did you even read my damned post? You are exactly the kind of person that allows companies like Turtle Beach to get away with their bullshit.

Turtle Beaches would probably do fine, they don't need to be absolutely top of the range.
Also I couldn't give a flying fuck what they are getting away with they seem to do the job so yeah if people like them and do what they need or want then why argue?

Well, after reading that interesting debate, and after reading some great reviews, I went with the Sennheiser Pc151's. £30 off Amazon w/ free delivery which I thought was a pretty good deal. Thanks for the help guys.

Since you are a pc player, Sennheiser suggestion is fair enough. But if you just save a few more GBP you could go for: http://www.trittontechnologies.com/i...ogy/ax-51-pro/
Their mic's are notorious for being a bit of a pain, but their customer service is great and if it breaks they send out a replacement ASAP.

Don't bother with 5.1 headsets. Just enabled virtual surround/headphone mode in your sound card settings.
