Tried this game out for the first time yesterday, never played dota.
My first games i played i started out at 1500 rating (does everybody start out the same or is it like random?) i played with ophelia and got pretty raped, got like 1/7/3 in average stats 3 games.
Then i tried a guy called voodo something, it went a little better, around 2/5/7, but i got beaten very hard at mid/end game.
Then i tried night hound, i was at 1300-1400 rating, so i dont know if it was because i was meeting worse people or that night hound was very easy to play but the first games were around 3/5/7, then 3/3/7, then the last couple of games were 9/1/14 and 13/2/16 and such.
Is night hound really that easy to play?
Anyway, do you guys have any general tips for me? tactics, easy heroes ect?

Everybody starts at 1500 ya.

And yeh, Nighthound is really easy to play, also a diff role than ophelia/voodoo jester. I'm a terrible player (started like 3 weeks ago with no DOTA experience either), yet with NightHound I've managed to pull scores as 21-1-9 myself in games vs really bad players.
When you start facing slightly better players, you'll get fucked over more by bound eyes/wards/etc...
You don't want to pounce-killsteal though, since your team will be mad at ya.


When starting off with the game, play easy heroes like Swiftblade, Moon Queen, Chronos, Night Hound, etc...

I strongly suggest reading general Warding/Laning guides in the HoN strategy forum ( Heroes of Newerth Forums ).
When picking a hero, always read the guides on him first (make sure the guide isn't outdated though) & follow the suggested item/skill builds in the guide.
Only after you get a bit more used to the game, start adding your own flavor & see how it works out.

Also watch some replays & youtube some guides.

Anyhow, Joo will probably give way better advice than me, since I'm pretty damm terrible still ;p

i'm average, I would still consider myself a noob though I suppose, well I join noob games anyway (which btw are stupid because they're just frag hunters). My stats are average, I think like a 1.1 K/D, only played 3 games though but I used to play dota.

I wouldn't mind playing with some people on here.

update: after dipping as low as 1300 PSR learnign the game I have managed to wrestle it back up to 1530. I am happy with this, KDR is around 0.8 after some horrible rounds.

Played a round tonight, went 3-2-23 as Tempest. <-- I like this hero.
