I played the demo for it and my PC melted. I had to play it on low settings, which did NOT amuse me. Of course, that made me hate the game from the start, so I doubt I'll be getting it.

That actually pretty much sums the game up though. I played it with a friend on PS3, and he has only done the first 3 missions. Then he decided to blow stuff up like what was being described on the video.

It is so much fun, but if you play it for the story, it really isn't that exciting (similar sort of way to Fallout 3). Kinda like GTA but with more explosions and communists instead of gangs.

yeah, the storyline isnt that great. but you have unlimited bullets tough if you keep blowing up stuff (you get an flare to call in an black market dealer)

I might pick this up tomorrow. Read a few reviews and while the general impression is not amazing, the fun factor of blowing stuff up appeals

I played through Saboteur like that.. had more fun just setting up explosives on Nazi towers and blowing up blimps over Paris with Anti Air guns than playing through the story.

Speaking of sandbox games, I just started playing GTA:SA on the PS2 again.. was a little strange seeing my old save game files dated to 2005, but man is that game good or what... I would buy it again if it was rereleased and enhanced for the PS3.

^Hell yeah, if they remade San Andreas with enhanced graphics and features I would go insane! After playing that again I realise that GTA IV was a bit of a turd IMO.

Ok, this game fucking rules! I am loving it!!

A full country of stuff to blow up any which way you want to, and the many ways to get things done (including missions) is awesome.

Best sandbox game since San Andreas IMO. Where it lacks for in story, it makes up for in freedom & scope.

When it gets a little tough, you generally have to think outside the box and be a little unconventional (as far as most other games go) with how you deal with certain scenarios - I am glad that I had a rocket launcher equipped when the Ninjas appeared though!

Forgot to mention the other cool feature on PS3 (no other platforms sadly) which is the built in video capture, allowing you to either save to HDD or send direct to youtube from within the game.

It doesn't slow the game down at all and you also have the option to leave it on auto which sets it to continuously capture while you play.

EDIT: It doesnt just buffer 30 secs like I initially thought (there is a separate setting to save the last 30 secs capture), it continued for a few hours for me before it stopped and asked me what I want to do with the footage it had been recording the entire time!

Here is a test I just did using the inbuilt "upload to youtube" feature which ended up at 44Mb for about 4 mins of footage. Quality aint amazing but it isn't bad either (looks slightly better at 480p).

Nothing special in the vid, just uncoordinatedly snapping the wires on a radio tower, blowing up some SAM sites, radars, jumping in a tank, blowing up soldiers, a truck, chopper and parachuting out of the area... just the usual



I am willing to bet that all next gen consoles will have this capture feature built in as part of the OS. After all, be it demoing tricks, high scores, montages, etc... as a game manufacturer, why wouldn't you want users advertising your games for you on youtube?

Got it the day it came out lol,

Ive been hooked ever since.i have clocked up 50 hours of play now... i have unlocked what i assume to be the last agency mission as it says to make sure you tie up all loose ends before doing it which would mean theres only 5 or 6 in total. I still have plenty of faction stuff and a lot of roaming bits n bobs to do.

I was a fan of the mercenaries games and this is basically the same only less mission based, freeing you up to do whatever the fck you want.

Which is exactly how i like it.I did get the limited edition one (only cos the twats in the shop had the same price tag on it so they HAD to give me it), only difference is a couple of "maxed out" guns ( Ricos signature gun and a semi auto assult rifle that doubles as a sniper gun) and a couple of vehicles that are also "maxed out".Oh and a map telling you where the best base jumps are etc.

Personally i think it rocks, but im a very shallow drunken guy so a game that involves blowing shit up and stealing cars along with a lot of collaterol damage is me all over.

only 7 agency missions in total.
After that you go into "mercenary mode" - allowing you to complete the game,do the faction bits+bobs and dominate the entire map.its still good fun,and im now at around 70% complete.

the special edition was technically cancelled and all editions came with the extras in the end.

this game i can only describe as fun fun fun. there is a million things to like attach a guy to a canister shoot the canister and watch him get shot off into oblivion or hook a guy to a plane and tow him through the skies, or rig an entire army base with C4 and then stand back and watch the fiireworks.

you can dual weild side arms in this, you can get a hot air balloon, a bubble gun, you can parchute in and devastate your foes with aeriel assualts whilst firing 2 SMG's whilst coasting in on your parchute.

a couple of bad points would be the story is short and no you don't have to do everything else before you complete it, it turns into mercenaries mode once completed and any missions you left behind are still there.
the voice acting is terrible and the cutscenes are all pretty much the same for faction missions.

there is a bajillion races to do all over the place, plenty of sectrets to uncover and plenty of mayhem to to be had, some good and hard trophies to get.

as someone pointed out the video capture on ps3 is pretty good although i'm sure the pc gets it 2 just not the x box. the quality is great considering it doesn't hinder your gameplay at all.

you can play havok with your enemies, for instance playing like spiderman and hooking them to windmills and so on or a passing car and watch them get dragged off to their death.

this is entertainment on a level similar or as close as we will get to a new release of san andreas
