Personally, I don't see it becoming that much of a big thing right now. There are plenty of video games that are addicting and no way need a 3D experience. Discuss, among other 3.30 related topics. Last edited by NinJa; 04-26-2010 at 05:39 PM. Reason: Spelling fail. |

If I wanted to play a game in 3D, I'd go outside.
It's not crucial to me. Good to see that if I ever became rich I'd only have to buy a 3D TV though.

I like that 3D support is in there - something for the early adopters to do and for developers to get creative with, but I cant see myself using it just yet.
Even if there was a killer app for it now, who wants to wear those 3D glasses while playing games? The porn industry is saying the same thing about moving into 3D - the glasses are the barrier. Does anyone know if there is a standard format for this type of 3D though or should we be expecting another format war? |

In all fairness I may be biased. I'm blind in one eye and I can't see 3D very well so I'm not really sure what everyone's so bloody amazed by. |

I have read that if you do it properly (where "properly" means a 5 foot life size display on a wall using a 3D projecter, no doubt this costs a illy amount, it is absolutely astonishing and truely "next gen" gaming) As I think it was Nibbles who pointed out, the important thing here is that the software is in place thus allowing consumers & game devs to adopt 3D at their own pace. Beyond that this is a good step into the future. One of my criticisms (but make no mistake, it's an absolute blessing too) of the console is that designed in 2006, you will be using the same out-of-date technology for the next 5 years. However by developers bothering to include software support for future tech so early shows a commitment to keeping up with cutting edge tech where they can. One more word about choice - 3D support and properly affordable (£400 for a lovely spec HD monitor [far less than a TV] the 3D goggles and a £100 gaming-ready GFX card) hardware has been around for about a year now on PC but does that mean we're all forced to adopt? Of course not. 3D on the PC is as optional as stuff comes it's as simple as putting a tick in a "yes" or "no" checkbox. This can only be a good thing, right?

I just hope when they start incorporating this 3D technology into gaming, they'll think about everyone and have the option to turn it off. |

it will be a toggle on and off thing as quite alot of people suffer from motion sickness whilst playing 3D games, i do after an hour or so, because you are fooling you brain.
this was announced last year by sony and they want 3D games and movies to be freely available by the end of the year 2010, you will however need a new £2000 television to use it thus rendering your shiny new HD one useless, there won't be a massive uptake untill the televisions come down alot and even then you probably wont see people playing games in 3D for the lengths of time they do now, it is amazing as i have tested the new 3D PC's and it is quite mind blowing but as with any new tech its gonna be a while before they sort all the major bugs. |
