Been playing it for 2 days. Have to say it looks and drives amazingly. AI is... average, but that's like it always is in a GT game. Lots of things to do, races, special events, licences, etc. Great game.

Waiting to go online, if it works it should be great.

As expected then (which is great) I have complete faith in GT5 being amazing. What I do not have complete faith in is the PS3!

Finally got Gold on the Sebastian Loeb challenge. I consider myself good at driving games but I am shit at rallying. This was killer. By far the hardest thing I have done to date on GT. I have had a go on the Vettel challenge (Red Bull X1) and at it seems difficult at first but reckon I will be able to crack that after some adjustment but this. I have been trying for this for weeks.
It's put me off going for the Gold on the later licences. I have gold on the first 3.
Anyone else with GT5 (abc?) had this much trouble or is it just me?

Only things I'm really having trouble with is turning ABS off & getting a good brake bias with it turned off (I assure you this changes racing from "silly easy" to sufficiently difficult since you can't just dive up the inside of literally 5 cars in a braking zone)

Haven't done enough Loeb/Vettel stuff to comment. I agree the Loeb stuff is one of the harder things I've done in a GT game.

Turning off ABS is game changing though. Can't use much more than 20% of the brakes without completely locking up and switching ends. I struggle defining 20% of an analogue stick, 21% would mean a big crash and 15% just means you're going 40 mph too quick when you arrive.

I played Black Ops back-to-back on PS3 & PC on the same level, same day, same screen. PC graphics are so far ahead it's not even funny any more. Therefore I find my PS3 is redundant for any FPS game, I don't do roleplay or strategy games. That leaves me with driving games, the notable ones basically being Dirt (happen to have on PC, which destroys the console version graphically even if I'd rather drive with a gamepad) and GT5.

Ignore what I said earlier. The new special event AMG is the hardest thing to date.
You have to get you AMG round the top gear test track faster than David Coulthard did irl.
You can't mess about with the car too much. You can have Racing line off, Active Steering on (god only knows why, but tbf it is slower imo if you do), TC and ABS, and you have to use Comfort Soft tyres. DC's time was 1:16:32 (though on the vid they show he blatantly cuts corners), and to get Gold you need a 1:18:00.
This is very difficult to beat. So far with the pad my fastest time was 1:20:XX, which is just outside the silver time. Switched to wheel today and have got it down to 1:18:xx so I know I can and will get gold, but 1:16:32 is a tough time. The first corner is nothing less than an utter bitch, easy to go round steady but if you break a tiny bit later you are in the grass.
Top guy last time I checked was 1:14:xx but on watching his replay he cuts half of chicago out (come on PD fix this shit), but have seen a legit 1:15:49.
Srsly fcking fast time. He was using same wheel as me (his rig is probably much better though) with no AS or TC and ABS on 1. I have always considered myself good at driving games. Sucks having you illusions shattered
I have AS off TC 5 ABS 1, 1:18:23 so far.
As hard as this is though, it is good fun. Have a go and post your times.
