Yes. Agreed. Latest delays are for 3d and eyetoy movement shite.
Who gives a fck. I don't know anyone with a 3d tv or anyone with multiple monitor setup on PS.

This is precisely why I haven't bought a PS3 yet. If you were a GT, GT2, GT3 or GT4 fanatic you'll have learnt to only EVER trust release dates once you actually have the game in your hands.

I was a GT, GT2, GT3, GT4 Prologue, GT4, GT HD concept and GT5 Prologue and actually had it on pre order when it was promised for september 25th last year.
I finally have stopped getting my hopes up for the game. When it's out it's out, and the wheel set up ready is just for need for speed shift. Honest.

Three things got me to pick the PS3 over the xbox when I did, backward compatibility to my old PS2 games that never get played, Blue-ray that I hardly ever use, built in hard disk that the 360 didn't have (shows how old my PS3 is) , and the promise of GT5.

I like the PS3, but damn looking back at my reasons..... other than the hard drive, pffft

I know it's been official for a while but I'm loving the licensed top gear test track

No, this isn't a joke. Nor did I see that pic and think "oh it's a runway it must be top gear." This is official. This has been official for some time. E3 trailer has a lot of TG test track video. That is indeed the TG test track. You can see the tyres just after the followthrough along with "second to last" and "gambon" corner.

One of the main reasons I want this game. I heard they are putting the Liana and Lasetti on the roster. Not confirmed. I will spend most of my life trying to beat the Stig's times.

Picture magically doesn't work anymore. Oh well. I'd be extremely suprised if you can't beat the stig's time because it's been shown lots of times that real life is harder than gaming.

In series 1 (new TG) I think it was, clarkson drove an NSX around laguna seca on GT3, then actually went to laguna seca and tried to match it in an NSX. He failed miserably.

Problem one was that the cork screw in real life is scary and he couldn't bring himself to brake on/after the crest. Issue two was that physics are more complex irl so driving is physically slower in real life (The ford 1.3 Endura-E equipped cars [e.g. the Ka] are a good few seconds quicker to 60 in the game than real life) Also, he kept moaning about being able to lift off the throttle mid corner in the game but not irl.

Agree completely. Didn't you think that the laguna seca test could have been done better. While it does show a normal person couldn't go round a track as fast as in game (obvious really) I wanted to see Clarksons Game times against a racing drivers real times, that way fear doesn't play a part.
I watched an interesting comparison on fifth gear where they had a real car and a real car driven remotely and the controller only had 3 screens to view from. Had a wheel setup to controll it (Logitech GT force iirc). I think he won too. It was only a round stock car track.

Edit: I think it was gadget show not fifth gear.

Edit Edit: Your pics are back

Article on IGN about what's in the game. E3 2010: Under the Hood of Gran Turismo 5 - PlayStation 3 Preview at IGN

I'll paraphrase for you;

- Release date is November 2nd 2010 (US), no other dates have been announced. I'm going with that week for the rest of us
- 1000 (ONE THOUSAND) cars split into 2 categories; Standard and Premium
- Standard cars (roughly 800 of them) are the usual ones from previous games. All remade though, no copies (this isn't IW). They'll collect dents, dust and scratches from the races
- Premium cars (the other 200) with those features PLUS fully rendered interiors and true damage modeling. Full damage (panes separation, deformation, etc)
- Cars will now rollover on GT5, so the bottoms of all the cars are rendered. Polyphony are pedantic guys, so every nut, bolt, piece of plastic is there.
- Full NASCAR rules, 9 car models (I assume with all the various liveries of the cars). You can race the NASCAR's on every track as well (although they're likely to get confused with right hand turns).
- You can play in 3D and use the EyeToy to capture head movement. So if you turn your head, the view in the game will change.
- Day to night transitions
- "GT Life" is a section of the Home part in the game. It's where you can compare yourself with your friend's stats. Go into GT Lounge, which is basically an online lobby for you and your friends. Race, hang out, chat, etc.
- Photo Mode. There's a "Race Photo Mode" where you can pause the game and take snapshots of your car in action. Then there's "Photo Travel Mode" where you can go to a specially create area, GET OUT of the car (1st person mode), walk around and take pictures of your car.

So yeah, not much.

There's also the official World Rally Championship (don't know much about this) and probably a billion other things.

Everyone is expecting them to fully announce everything at Gamescon European gaming convention in August. Can't wait

LOL - the return of the pointless photo mode xD

More licenses is very good (nascar, WRC, etc) and those in-car views looked great on the trailer.

I reckon the nascars will handle like the Pike's Peak Escudo though...

Rollover/dents/scratches/panels etc along with changable day/night is a very welcome evolution.

So, more stuff seems to have been confirmed. Accidentally maybe.

Spoiler:
Quote:
"Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhancing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather," Yoshida told the official PlayStation site.

"These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit," he continued, "Whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual."

Things just got more awesome.

ZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMG create a track?!?!?!

I've been wishing we could have this for soooooo long. It's the PERFECT COMPLIMENT to liscenced tracks. It's almost genius. You don't need to bother liscencing local tracks when people can design their own, and if they please, base it on real life. Hello Thruxton fastest circuit in the UK... Gah! Just Nom nom damn bloody nom...

This is better than when they announced the nordschleif & 792 (IIRC) cars for GT4...

Still, at least the price of a PS3 is always going down whilst GT5 isn't being released, actually suits me...

LOLOLOLOLOL.

Being GT, they'll do it properly so you'll probably be able to do complex gradients etc, so, may I make an addition to your plan?

20 mile straight + S4 high pressure turbo + Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak + 1000MPH glitch + a similar sort of gradient to the "Cork Screw" at laguna seca... but in reverse.

But yeah, play GTA if you want to fly cars on a regular basis. I'm gonna make a perfect replica of my local circuit and a few more english ones as I highly doubt Silverstone will be in the game, letalone the little gems like Brands Hatch Indy.

Silverstone should be included with any luck, as the GT Academy competition Sony ran a while back involved it quite heavily.

I didn't really follow it closely but from what I understand they released a time trial track via PSN late last year. The players with the top times from around the world were involved in a series of other challenges to find the best drivers. The best were eventually flown to Silverstone to race in the real thing. The winner there was to be prepared for a full season of international racing apparently... or something like that.

Lol, always wandered who liked Brans Hatch Indy, prefer the full track myself. Totally agree about making your fav tracks. Oulton park (my local) Donnington and one you may have heard of if you like bikes, Olivers Mount are the tracks I will be making. Getting the plan of Olivers mount may prove tricky though.

Damn Damn, here I go getting excited again about this game. Whe will I learn. Who started this thread. OP your a swine.

Forgive me if I contain my excitement until the game is out. At this rate it's going to be something our descendants enjoy, not us.
The tragic thing is that I want to boycott it because SCEE made us fork out £20 on Prologue with the impression that GT5 was no far behind and it would be an add-on that you pay to upgrade. No way I would have spent £20 on such a short game, and with all the time that's passed there's no way they'll give money off to all us Prologue owners now.
But to wait all this time then boycott the bugger...... that's a tough call.

The track creator hasn't been confirmed yet. I expect at the next big gaming convention it'll be announced (August, I believe).

Also, stunt arenas and go-karting sound great. Even if it's just online.

Donnington is my fav, with thruxton close behind. I would like to "create" a mix of laguna/donny/brands hatch with maybe a bit of mallory parks bumpy unforgiving tarmac too.
Pity they are just doing cars and not slipping in a little of the 2 wheel variety. Why can nobody make a decent 2wheel game?????
