Default A FPS my piece of junk can handle

Well, today my nephew (aka Xbox) moved out of my house. This leaves me with one method to game: this PC. This PC is crappy. These are the specs: eMachines Support: Support Documents

Currently, I am having trouble finding a decent FPS to play on it. I own Halo 1 from many years back, but I despise the lack of an aim down sight feature and the no sprint.

Anyone have any ideas?

Apart from the old Unreal, Quake, etc games I'd go for Counter-Strike 1.6 for MP as it's still got a relatively good sized playerbase from games of that era and should play without any issues. Half-Life is still fun to play through as well.

The original CoD may run ok but I've no idea if that Intel Extreme Graphics supports DX9 which seems to be the min requirement of PC games from that 2003-2004 era.

You can barely run CoD1 at minimum specs with that computer. Counter strike might be a viable option.

Just checked them out now. Min spec is for a PIII 600Mhz & 128MB RAM. Should be ok but you wouldn't want anything else running in the background... GFX card also must meet the the DX requirement (listed as 9.0b)

Call of Duty System Requirements - Call of Duty Files

Either way, for under 200MB, can't hurt to try.

I say that based off past experience. My old Dell Dimension 2400 with the intel chipset could barely handle it.

This told me I can't even play Halo, which I can. Albeit, halo looks TERRIBLE, but I can still play it.

Yeah that website is terrible, although people get confused. It says can you RUN it at all. Not can you RUN-IT-WELL-ENOUGH-TO-ENJOY-IT.

I've got a comment, r.e. your AWOL thread. Isn't this a perfect opportunity to game less and get out more - as you admit that you want to. It seems like you're coming off one drug and looking for an alternative...

However buying some very old, ugly & lagging games may be the perfect solution. You can still game occasionally but it's not enjoyable enough for you to get hooked so much?

This is getting repetitive.

You will almost certainly be able to play Combat Arms, it's pretty appalling, but free so you can play it for the few days it stays fun and not lose out. I'd recommend at least giving it a bash.

That site told me my comp can't even start up CoD4. I could run it on near minimum specs with a high framerate.

Plus it never works for me, so the hell with that.

FENNY THATS A TERRIBLE WEBSITE

I agree with abc, find something new. I'm starting to get into seeing what i can do to fix up my car with my spare time, instead of playing. sure i'll play once in a while but not all the time. Either way, at least you can play PC games

this is where i kinda sorta miss windows

atm, I'm in a transitionary mode. I still need things to fill up all this extra time I have. I have a decent school load now, but I still need to get court stuff settled so I can drive and ultimately work. What I've been doing now is just watching TV cause I have a lot of time to kill since most of my friends have jobs :/

I've pretty much accepted now that this PC won't let me run anything I'd enjoy, so hopefully my court stuff will be resolved soon and I can continue on in life, without gaming as much as I do.

Tried. Played. Lagged. ;;

Funnily enough, Nexon, the publisher of CA, also produces Maple Story. Maple Story happens to be a really adicting game that I've played for years sicne I started, well, cause this PC can't run much of anything and I had no money.
