It seems almost every MMO world in existence involves a massive cataclysmic event (but usually it occurs just before the game starts on the timeline).

In Guild Wars it happens in a cutscene after the tutorial . But yeah, due to the nature of MMOs you have to level a hero from noob to pro which means there has to be something in the story to motivate them to become a hero, an easy way to explain this is a world changing event I guess.

OT: I'm a Guild Wars player so WoW expansions don't interest me in the slightest.

Ultimate games is real drive and racing effect after playing feel. I like ultimate games play. My favorite ultimate Games are racing in city, bike racing, city race, need for speed.
