Default The Quest for SitRep Pro!

1.) Background Info:

SitRep - Unlocked at level 37. Allows you to see enemy equipment (claymores, C4, tactical insertions, and even grenades). It displays them in bright red that is visible through walls and other solid objects. They are visible from all the way across the map, though you would need a sniper scope to see them. According to the CoD Wiki it also shows red tracers on enemy bullets, but I never noticed any difference.
Pro version - Makes enemy footsteps 4 times louder, and the player and player's teammates footsteps 4 times quieter (only to the player, enemies will still hear your footsteps at a normal volume). This does not affect those with ninja equipped. It will not make their footsteps any louder. You must destroy 120 enemy equipment to unlock the pro version of this perk.

Advantages:

SitRep can be quite the useful tier 3 perk. You'll never die from a claymore for one, but it also gives away the position of those pesky campers. Plus if you want to get the "What the?" challenge, this is the way to do it. I got 4 kills shooting enemy explosives, and an additional 2 or 3 hit markers. So it will happen, just not that often.

SitRep pro has obvious sound whore advantages. You can hear people coming from pretty far away, and it's easier to distinguish between friendly and enemy footsteps. Coupled with a good sound system, a headset, or even just a TV turned up loud this will allow you to play defensively (read: camp) without worrying about someone sneaking up on you. They only way they will get behind you is if they are using ninja. Or if the deafening harrier above you is too distracting.

2.) Getting SitRep Pro:

Many will tell you "play Demolition" or "play Free For All". While these are good ideas, you don't have to. This perk is going to take so long to get, it's not worth leaving your comfort zone to do so. Some lobbies use a lot of equipment, some don't, regardless of game type. Just play what you like.

I played ground war, and sometimes there would be claymores all over, and other times there wouldn't be any. It also depends on the map. Maps with lots of buildings to camp in, like Overgrown, tend to have a lot of claymores.

I used three primary classes when getting the pro version of this perk, they are:

Class One:

Primary: Barrett .50 Cal with FMJ
Secondary: An effective close range weapon, more explained below

Perk 1: Sleight of Hand Pro
Perk 2: Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3: SitRep

The sniper is good because you don't have to walk all the way across the map to destroy that damn claymore. You can stay hidden and out of danger, which really helps. With the other classes you have to put yourself in harm's way to destroy anything, so you die in the process. With snipers you can shoot the equipment pretty much as soon as you see it. You don't have to get closer or position yourself, wasting valuable time in which the claymore might be set off or destroyed.

FMJ is not needed to shoot through walls. Sniper rifles and Assault Rifles (ARs) can penetrate most surfaces as it is. FMJ will sometimes allow you to penetrate extra surfaces. This makes it the most logical attachment on all classes. You don't always need it, but when you do it comes in handy.

FMJ is unlocked after 75 kill on a sniper rifle, and after 300 kill with an assault rifle.

A close range sidearm is needed as you will be making your way into camping hot spots, and it covers what the sniper cannot. Suitable weapons would be shotguns and machine pistols. The Akimbo G18s are one of the best options for close range combat. A silenced weapon will prevent you from showing up on the enemy's minimap, which allows you to infiltrate buildings undetected, and then destroy equipment. I find the silenced M93 Rafica works out well, it's accurate and powerful at middle and close ranges.

Class Two:

Primary: Any Assault Rifle with FMJ
Secondary: See above

Perk 1: Sleight of Hand Pro
Perk 2: Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3: SitRep

This is better on maps where a sniper isn't as good. ARs don't have the high penetration that snipers do, but it's easier to work your way up to where you can get a good shot, as ARs are more versatile. I used the SCAR-H and the TAR-21 on this class. They are two of the best ARs in the game, are easy to use, and have good iron sights. Good iron sights are a must since FMJ takes up the attachment slot. Also with FMJ, you're bound to get some penetration kills as well, so you'll also be working towards the 'extended magazines' challenge. I got 40/40 on the SCAR, and 20/40 on the TAR. Why not take out two birds with one stone?

Class Three:

Primary: Any Assault Rifle with a Grenade Launcher
Secondary: None (One Man Army replaces your secondary)

Perk 1: One Man Army Pro
Perk 2: Danger Close Pro
Perk 3: Sit Rep

This class uses the perk 'One Man Army' for unlimited launch-able grenades. For more details on this class, see OMALOL TUBING is SRS BSNS

With this class destroying equipment was kind of a bi-product of playing. You see equipment in a building, launch one through the window and pick up the kill and destroy the equipment. It's handy because you can just launch a grenade into a room, but I did not find this class THAT effective for destroying equipment. I did get a good KDR though.

Analysis of Classes:

Of these three classes, the sniper is the most effective at destroying equipment. Unfortunately I kinda suck at sniping, so when I played this class I'd focus just on destroying equipment, and let the rest of the game go. I'd usually get at least three, sometimes quite a few more. With the AR class, I'd just play and try to get to where the claymores were. Got quite a few this way too. The OMALOL class wasn't as effective as I thought it would be. Usually claymores are on stairs or somewhere it's hard to launch a grenade into.

Destroying Equipment:

As far as actually destroying the equipment goes, there's not much to it. With FMJ you can usually penetrate at least one wall, maybe two. Use your knowledge of the maps to get a good idea where the claymore is actually located. Keep in mind they are usually outside of doorways where someone might flank a camper. Then position yourself where you can get a shot at it, where there's only one wall between you and the object.

It took me exactly one week to get SitRep pro. I only played for 2-3 hours a day, so it's not so bad. I went from level 37 to 52, to put it in perspective. While doing so I would usually use a class with SitRep, but not always. It was my main priority, but not my only one. It was frustrating and kinda sucked, but I'm glad I did it.

3.) Is it Worth It?:

The big question. It is probably the best pro upgrade, it gives you a very distinct advantage. At least that's how I think Infinity Ward justified the ridiculous number of devices required. While ninja pro lets you sound whore, this lets you sound whore better. 4 times better, if you think about it. Most players don't sound whore, so ninja isn't required to stay undetected, not to say it doesn't help. Keep in mind that if you want to be quiet you can ADS or crouch. This being said, it is not worth it unless you are done prestiging. It takes a long time, and is frustrating to get. Spare your time and your sanity and save it for later. I'm still going to prestige, but I wanted to get it because I like the challenge and I wanted to write this guide.

If You have Headphones:

If you have headphones this is a perk you should definitely get when you're done prestiging. It doesn't take long to get used to, but it does make the sound of enemy's overwhelmingly loud in some locations. You will always know if there is an enemy in the Estate house, to say the least. The fact that it makes enemy footsteps louder and friendly footsteps quieter makes it much easier to discern between the two. Generally you know where you allies are from the mini map, so rarely do you get mixed up. It gives you a great advantage, you can hear people coming from very far away. I get at least one kill a game I wouldn't get without it, where some guy is trying to flank or knife me. You can tell what kind of surface the enemy is running on, this combined with your knowledge of the maps, and directional sound makes it pretty easy to position enemies. Since you can tell where they are coming from, you can position yourself to attack them, or avoid danger. Sometimes it's like a mini map hack.

I have only played with my headphones, the Turtle Beach X11s. They are a pretty cheap headset, so I imagine with a better one they would be even more useful. I have played with just my TV turned up loud before, and that lets you sound whore too. Not as well, but you can hear guys running to attack you. Sometimes it's hard to tell where the sound is coming from though. A surround sound system would probably be similar to a headset.

4.) Conclusions:

-Play whatever game type you like, one doesn't not necessarily have more equipment than the other.
-An AR or Sniper with FMJ is the best primary for destroying equipment. FMJ is not necessary, but makes it easier.
-SitRep Pro is an excellent perk. It's very useful, it will net you some kills and save your skin!
-It's frustrating to get. It's best to wait until you are done prestiging.

Well, there you guys have it. Hope it helps! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

A special thanks to Ninja and abc.

good job
@ the intro, it does affect ninja pro, there is a video on youtube about it. since sitrep's multiplier is x4, and ninja's is less than x.25, ninja gets the advantage but is still affected by sitrep. it makes it closer, but not equal to, 100% sound.

I have picked up an extra 70 just playing the game. Probably about 50 of them are from noob tubing campers. And that was from level 52 to 64. So you could get it nonchalantly by the time you're in the upper 60s, which would be a waste if you're going to prestige.. If you're not going to prestige again, then there's no rush. I just wanted to get it as fast as possible.

As far as ninja is concerned: from my experience it does not make a difference, you still can't hear them with SitRep. I've been playing ground war which is pretty loud, so I can't confirm that. I have heard people say that ninja makes your footsteps four times quieter. This is not true, it's more than that. It's probably closer to ten times quieter. SitRep might still affect players using ninja, but their footsteps only be about .4 as loud as normal. This is just speculation, but SitRep does not cancel ninja. I looked this up and found multiple sites saying so. I just checked youtube real quick, and came up with nothing. If someone can find definitive proof, please post it!

Also, what is the EAM thing you are talking about Kll131?

It is a method of backing up your playerstats.

These playerstats can then be edited to change anything.

Before I prestiged I had about 220 destroyed. It turned out to be quite the useful perk. It doesn't help that much up on the front lines, but if I was away from the action a bit it really helped. I could camp the building above A on Quarry really well. You can hear them from every direction. You can hear people running down the conveyor belt. I got so many kills from people coming that direction. It's good for those spots where you have good sight lines, but you're going to get flanked. Plus you can hear guys before they come around corners etc, very useful in many applications.

You can hear the distinct sound of those marathon lightweight footsteps coming had you, you just gotta kill them before they lunge across the map at you.

I can hear footsteps around me fine, now that i have a headset. I feel like sitrep pro would be overkill, since I don't need to hear people across the map

Ninja is good with a headset, but SitRep is better. The farther away you can hear them coming from, the better.

I would love it if it made peoples footsteps with ninja louder. On quiet maps with a nice headset you can just barely hear ninjaers. The problem is that sometimes my mind will start to play tricks on me "Did I hear someone?" "yeah I think I did.." "No I must not have" Then I get knifed in the back haha.
I would love if someone could find out if it makes ninja footsteps louder. I would myself but I currently have 0/120 sit rep devices so might take awhile.

It makes ninja footsteps the same volume as normal footsteps.

^ I have heard that it does, but I've read more definitive info and seen videos saying that it DOESN'T. I've never seen anything confirmed 100%. One of my above posts goes a little more in depth on the topic.

it doesn't. ninja's multiplier on footsteps is a littl less than .25, while sitrep pro is 4, making ninja's + sitrep pro = slightly less than normal footstep

Good guide...I just unlock Sitrep again last night and threw it on there for finding campers. Well it just so happens I'm working on getting FMJ kills for the Aug and MP5 mastery and you hit the nail on the head when you said use FMJ, thats a very good piece of advice.

Yeah it really helps. Also unlocking the challenges is like a little reward along the way, since getting pro takes so long.

I just need 7 more claymores (or C4)

I've only destroyed 2 C4 using Sitrep...lol
