I've only been playing the MW series for a few days but had some practice beating WaW and doing MP on that. I am also probably twice as old, if not more, than the average player. I'm 36, and I've had experience in FPS since the original Wolfenstein and DOOM.

I've been playing a lot of CoD4 and MW2/MW3 lately trying to get better, practice, and get my ranks up. One thing I noticed though that everyone, and I mean everyone that I have played with is relatively immature while playing these games, especially MW2 and MW3. The word "noob" gets thrown out there like it's going out of style. There's A LOT of abuse, whether over chat or voice chat. It really takes away the joy of playing the games because you're listening to some idiot making fun of everybody just because he's 8th or 9th prestige and a 3/1 ratio in kills/deaths.

Wasn't everyone a noob at one point in these games? Everyone sucked I'm sure at some point. It's a computer game people. There's no need for ego, abuse, and just plain immaturity. Go through yourself in the middle of a real battle with real guns and don't come back to me crying after you've been shot 20 times.

I'm sure I'm going to take more abuse just from this thread but that just proves my point about the players' immaturity.

Welcome to the forum. I see you play on PC which is probably a good thing since it seems that more immature players tend to be on xbox or ps3 (no offense to our members that do play on consoles) because of market saturation. There are simply more people playing on console than there is on PC which stands to reason that there will be more retards that will abuse chat and voice, do stupid stuff etc.

You will also notice an increase of retardedness on all fronts simply because MW2 is an older game now. Most people have moved on to the newer franchise games (MW3 and BF3 for starters) so the people that are continuing to play MW2 are likely doing it out of boredom or just for kicks. I'm sure the next time I play MW2 I'll throw in some Riot Shield C4 play and some noobtubing too; because it's fun to be a dick...sometimes.

Finally, you are dealing with a testosterone driven game. It's all about competition, less about teamwork, skills and respect. I'd say in order to keep your faith in the game and gaming in general, seek out a mature clan, one that's been around for a while, one that excludes immature little shits. I'm 31, female and a PC player. I abhor playing with uber young kids because it tends to be "show me your tits" or "make me a sammich" etc. I was fortunate enough to meet some awesome people of various ages and backgrounds on this forum and that made a world of difference.

Please stick around and get a feel for our community. We have some long term members here that are really fantastic and if I had some goddamn internet I'd be happy to play a few rounds with ya.

Hi I'm Adam I'm 18 and I'm a prolific user of the mute button. Seriously, that thing is your friend. I don't even bother playing MW2 with a mic half the time, unless I'm with friends. It's just too annoying.

Like pants, I always mute anyone that comes into the lobby. Even when I'm in a party, I rarely put my mic on (however I don't mute those in my party unless they're playing music).

And I am one of few who is one of the younger ones who doesn't moan, whine and bitch about every time I die. I'll just mutter under my breath.

Advantage of being a quiet person, no yelling at the game.
