I've noticed that if you just do it by reflex and don't really try to aim too hard, you get some kills.

Lots of people think that the knife travels a lot more slowly than it actually does. I know that I did. Bear in mind that you only have to lead by a tiny amount if you're not lagging and are at close range.

Use Riot Shield, when you get hit crouch and advance toward target, they'll empty their mag out of frustration, wait for them to reload, then FWOP!

Also, the knife can be thrown a lot farther than anything else in this game. Of course it will be harder to hit the target the farther and higher but it is possible. I got "lucky" with a throw from the cliff in Afghan, I threw it at a guy behind the humvee in front of the plane. My crosshairs were high, I guesstimated and it hit him. I was aiming to hit him, but didn't think I actually would...

I got one through a window, breaking the glass, blindly (although I knew he was about 2 feet from the area) on Quarry. I wanted to see that killcam.

Reflex throwing makes it a lot easier, but you have to remember that after about 3 feet of travel, maybe up to 5 feet of travel, the knife will start to be affected by gravity, and it'll start to fall. So the farther the target, obviously you'll have to aim a bit higher. Just run around and try it out, I suggest Marathon, Lightweight, and Commando, just in case you need to get in a bit closer.

I usually use the throwing knife if I am feeling a bit epic, Unless your getting the title "Hello: It's Personal", using the throwing knife on someone in last stand or final stand

I think I've finished all of the throwing knife challenges, and I can say that having a silenced weapon with Cold-Blooded and Ninja definitely helps. Nearly all of my throwing knife kills were against enemies who did not see me.

I'm doing the same thing now with sticking Semtex to enemies, and it seems to work. The key is to always have your primary weapon out, and then only if you remain unseen can you take a little bit more time than usual and get that knife or sticky kill.

When I ended a TDM game with a Throwing Knife yesterday, it was probably the most enjoyable moment I've ever had playing a MP game. I've got more than 30 throwing knife kills, and I still giggle to myself like a schoolgirl every time it works. A schoolgirl who kills bad guys.

Just practice. It took me forever to get the elevation right for throwing at distances. Look at this guy in this vid he has it down pat. The last throw he dose is insane lol. I think its around 5:50.
I can never get the youtube video tags to work lol, here is the link.

Yeah using it with Riot Shield is a pretty good idea... but if you're just trying to run around like a dumbass and get kills with it it probably won't happen.

So either be sneak or get a Riot Shield.

Yeah I was playing against 2 people who were doing that, you would never see one without the other. They got annoying, but I'll admit it was pretty effecitive lol.

People (usually) aren't so stupid anymore to just keep shooting at your riot shield until they have to reload.

By "reflex throwing" do you guys mean just tapping the throw button?

I've booked about 8 hours and 75 or so kills with it today and discovered a few good tactics that work for me.

Of course if you're playing Softcore you get the crosshairs for the knife, which is definitely good.

If you're caught in a position where the enemy sees you I've discovered that it is best to crouch or lay down behind some cover and get your knife ready. Pop up and make sure the enemy is still in the same spot and put your crosshairs on him and adjust for gravity's effect (of course this will just take playing time to know how much to adjust).

It's cool and all to get kills on a guy standing still, but it's 10x better when he knows you're there.

i use it for FFA, but if u want a class specialy for it i would choose:

SMG
Pistol
Throwing knife
Stun grenade
Scavenger
Lightweight
Ninja Pro

scavenger obviously for if u miss the dude and u loose the knife u can pick a new one up with scavenger.

First of all 2 setups to use

Camo setup
Primary Weapon choice:
Sniper rifle of choice, your movement speed holding a sniper is 100% same as SMG however you get camouflage holding a sniper (assuming you have the one shot 1 kill challenge completed)
Secondary Pistol with Tac Knife (this is what you will always have out while throwing knives, if you miss with the knife, quick commando them down, and replen your knife right away)
Perk 1
Scavenger
Perk 2
Lightweight
Perk 3
Commando
Spec Grenade
Stun (slower targets= easier to throw knives at)

Ninja Spec
Primary Weapon
MP5k Silenced (has fast ADD rate, good RoF, and highest DPS for an SMG + 100% movement speed)
Secondary Weapon
Pistol w/ Tac knife or SPAS12 silenced (not like you will ever really use it)
Perk 1
Scavenger
Perk 2
Cold Blooded
Perk 3
Ninja
Spec Grenade
Stun (slower targets= easier to throw knives at)

the difference between the 2 really depends on map, whether you can really be sneaky or whether you will be out in the open alot.

Quote:
Anyone got some tips and tactics about hurling pointy things at bad people?
Practice Practice Practice! Thats your biggest help
You need practice to learn to adjust for leading your target and gravity, especially since you will often need to do it on the fly

Hold down the throw button, pull up the crosshairs and really lead your aim around corners, try to keep the knife crosshairs in dorways or centers of hallways, basically aim where someone is likely to be in a place where you are likely to bump into an enemy.

If you know where someone is camping, hold your crosshairs where you need to be, and strafe out around a corner or into sight of your target and let fly.

One trick I've read about, is pull up your crosshair, and then take a peice of scotch tape, carefully cut out the cross hair in the middle of scotch tape and lightly place it over the throwing knife crosshair, this way you know where your crosshair is at all times for quick throwing

I personally have over 200 butcher accolades (likely between 300-400 throwing knife kills)

The "Did you see that?" and "Unbelievable" challenges several times over (Legit)

And I display my throwing knife love via my callsign and emblem from those challenges (same as my sig)

they r supposed to according to the updated weapon specs sheet:

Quote:
On movement speed (player speed is determined by the weapon in his primary slot):
SMGs and Sniper Rifles have a Speed of 100%
Assault Rifles have a Speed of 95%
Machineguns have a Speed of 87.5%
Riot Shield has a Speed of 80%
A player can pick up another weapon and keep the movement speed of the weapon he spawned with.

the best way to get kills with the knife in the game is by using the riot shield!!
get close enough to an enemy while crouching and try to "guess" where the knife's crosshairs gonna be-luckily when u press the knife button it takes it out immidiatelly helping u surprise your enemy
