Default Killcam and Sniping

First, let me say that the ONLY part of multiplayer that I enjoy is the sniping. It is THE most realistic sniping in any game IMO. I'll usually leave a game in the pre-game lobby until I get a good sniping map (Afgan comes to mind.) Here's the issue: I feel that the killcam really ruins the whole point of sniping. The point of sniping is to be concealed from the enemy while effectively eliminating them. It puts pressure on the other team to put their damn heads down. Killcams just get in the way of that. I usually get two or 3 kills with the sniper then I get killed because someone saw where I was thanks to the killcam. Occasionally, I'll move to a different location but I find myself getting rocked whenever I do so because people still manage to find me even with Cold-Blooded on.

Now Hardcore TDM (or any other hardcore mode) is where it's at. I'll usually go 10+ kills with 3 or less deaths (I know of a couple of SICK sniper spots but they get ruined thanks to killcam.)

Does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah i play mostly HC now. But a tip while sniping in regular TDM is after you kill someone, STAY SCOPED for a second or 2. it makes it harder for them to see where you are because in the killcam all they see is a scope aiming at thier head

Hahaha sniping in cod is the most unrealistic in pretty much any game! There is no bullet drop and you dont have to lead your target at all, go play battlefield and see how many kills you can manage.

But the tip above is good if you are camp sniping yeh, id still suggest having like 3 spots on every map at least that you can alternate between.

But the way some of the killcams are, it starts recording like a few secs before you scope in, so that doesn't always work.

I'd stick with HC if you want to snipe. In MW, you could just stay scoped and no one could get a clear shot of where you were, but like Sarcross said, it does start a few seconds before you scope in, unless you're scoped in all the time.

Unless you're quick shotting that shouldn't be a problem. Another idea is to immediately go prone in front of some cover and stay scoped in, even harder because they won't know the angle

wow... can't believe I haven't even tried the Hardcore TD as I always just play ground war. The kill cam does ruin the art of the sniper in the game which I go always purposely stay scoped after each kill. Most games I'm scoped as long as possible in one area unless I need to move... ultimate camper mode, guess I have the patience

if you want realism in COD/MW2 then you have to go HC, otherwise it just plain isn't (and that's ok, it's still fun!)

HC anything with an EBR is probably the way to go (although I haven't unlocked it yet )

I think it'd be much better if you had to lead targets. As for bullet drop I do agree, but there are few occaisons when you actually have the range to adjust for that. A couple of cross map shots and that's about it.

What I usually do is just stay in the unscoped perspective and just look around the map to see any sign of life. When I spot them, I'll scope in and reel in the headshot.

I do this very often too depending on the map... or scope in on a place, unscope while quickly scoping in on another spot, and switching back and forth until my head explodes
