Default Tac Knife Strategy

So, I was pretty getting pretty angry tonight at MW2 because I was dying so much. Then, just for the hell of it, I set up an only-knife class. Maybe my run-and-gun strategy would work out a little better with this setup.

Holy fuck, the tactical knife is good. I use this:

Primary: Vector - Red Dot Sight (You run faster with an SMG)
Secondary: .44 Magnum - Tactical Knife (Any pistol would work, though)
Equipment: Throwing Knife (For added embarrassment)
Special Grenade: Stun Grenade x2
Perk 1: Marathon (Pro)
Perk 2: Lightweight (Pro)
Perk 3: Commando (Pro)
Death Streak: Painkiller (Just in case..)

Here's the deal. Marathon (Pro) is obviously a given to use as perk 1 since no shots will be fired under optimal conditions. Now, for perks 2 and 3, there is an alternative that I haven't tried yet, which is using Cold Blooded (Pro) and/or Ninja (Pro) instead of/in addition to what I have chosen. I think that Lightweight is up for debate; you do run quite fast with it enabled, but is Cold Blooded better suited for this type of class? What do you think?
However, I believe that Commando is the best choice for perk 3. Have you seen how fast you can plunge your knife into someone with that perk!? With the very useful Pro addition of not obtaining any fall damage, I am of the opinion that Commando (Pro) is better than Ninja (Pro). While Ninja Pro does make your footsteps silent, the added distance and speed with which you can knife someone (especially with the Tac Knife) is of greater value.

Maps on which I have found this setup to be good (so far, haven't played it on all levels yet): Invasion, Favela, Skidrow, Rundown, Underpass

The main thing that you need to remember is to stay out of open areas like the parking lot on Skidrow and the fields of Wasteland. It's important to stay out of sight, and if you are spotted by someone, I'd suggest quickly throwing a stun and then shank them before they know what happened. I was on Free-For-All tonight and people were rage-quitting in every game I was in.

I've found a new reason to love MW2.

Anyone else have any good knifing strategies? I'd love to hear them.

^ people who use this class piss me off more than models or the m16. It is a game breaking feature imo but hey it can be quite fun to use.

I prefer to take a shotgun (SPAS-12, anyone?) or akimbo handguns (for the lulz).

Tactical knife is weird. Sure, it's fast, but half the time it just seems to miss completely. I have much, MUCH more success with the normal knife. Or just shooting them with a 12 gauge.

Stealth? Who needs stealth when you have boomstick?!

It's not so much stealth as it is driving the other team crazy.

Honestly? I figured stealth would be the first thing against using a shotgun... (without stopping or steady, I'd say ANY shotgun is useless with the suppressor)

But, yeah. Better range. Can possibly take out multiple targets in one shot. Pretty sure I can attack faster, too. And I can sprint right after shooting the gun... Beats tactical knife, I say. Only real problem is that it isn't as "wide" as the knife, and you have to aim yourself (as opposed to the homing stab).

God damn, I love the SPAS-12. Knife running, up to 11.

...gun running?

...run 'n' gunning?

Looks like I'm back where I started.

That's great, you like the shotgun more.

I just use the 2nd default class, forget what it's called.

UMP45
.44 Magnum w/ Tac Knife
Marathon
Lightweight
Commando

I don't need to make a new one for it, this one is just perfect... I went 22-4 in Sub-Base just running around and knifing people, I love it.

OMG I take back what I said in the second post lol I just unlocked the magnum with tactical knife and in my very first game using the tactical knife I went 44-5 and got the nuke. I was amazed by just how fast it is, you can see a guy shooting you with an smg about 10 feet away and shank him in a millisecond, got some great knife streaks going it was so much fun.

Ninja, Commando, whatever, I don't remember since it's a default class but that's what I use and it works wonders.

I was trying to get kills with hand guns before I even realized 2 default class had it, now I don't even bother, I use that one when I want to go stabbin' people.

This is the best knife strategy I've seen

Have Marathon Lightweight and Commando equipped and a Care Package as one of your kill steaks. Get four kills and equip the Care Package Smoke. Now sit back and watch

Lol that is awesome. Too bad you can't use the tactical knife with it, though.

lol i love the T. knife class.

as soon as i reach 3rd prestige ill set it up as a permanent class

i went 24-1 with just my knife before lol, i used it for about 15 games straight without firing a bullet (finishing top every game i think?) then totally forgot how to shoot and ended up with like 3-4 kill for the next 10 games because i couldnt fire a gun lol

i remember a game on skidrow where i filled up the whole killfeed with knife kills lol, the whole team were moving through the centre and i popped out like some bad-ass ninja.

They had no idea what the hell was going on lol.

Its such a bitch to fight against a player who is good with this setup

Marathon [Pro], Lightweight [Pro] or Cold-Blooded [Pro], Ninja [Pro] or Commando [Pro]

USP .45 was the easiest for me to unlock personally.

My favorite class to use is:

UMP45 (FMJ)
USP (Tactical Knife)
Marathon
Lightweight
Commando

The Tactical Knife does wonders in close quarters. If I decide to move into an open area, I pull out my UMP. I prefer an SMG with power rather than fire rate. Plus, the UMP only has a small recoil.

I think I have decided that unless you are rushing to the enemy's flag at the beginning of a Domination round to get a multi-kill (explosive or otherwise), Cold Blooded is more beneficial than Lightweight. Never showing up on the radar is very important, as it turns out. :P

I noticed the biggest debate is between perk 3, commando or ninja. My class setup is ump 45 w/ supressor, usp 45 w/ tac knife, throwing knife and stun grenades. Perks are marathon, lightweight and commando. This class is mostly setup for close quarters combat such as favela or sub base but can also be used in levels with heavy camping. It's also great on high rise for flanking. I prefer commando because with pro unlocked, on a map like favela with different levels I can run and jump all over the map and come from any angle. The supressor takes care of the radar except for a uav which is remdied by having counter uav as one of your killstreaks. I prefer the tac knife because if I get in the other teams spawn I can run through them in utter silence. Iv gotten 5 kills by busting through their spawn and taking out the entire team. Most of all this class is fun to play with. No better feeling than just running people down and dropping them with a knife. And on heavy sniping levels(besides wasteland) you can run and everyone is busy looking through their thermal scopes and just knife them all too easy. After a while using this class I got able to knife while jumping. Good luck!

Tact Knife rules, and definately good players with it will piss everyone off and alot.

i find i use commando more as a teir 3 perk, but Ninja pro can be a god send if your on levels like skidrow and your footsteps sound like bigfoot on a wooden floor.

I use, UMP silenced.
deagle with tact knife, because its got a beast noise when fired. or whatever i have with it, if i haven't unlocked the deagle.
throwing knife, its a knife class after all.

and the standard perks.

having your deathstreak as painkiller, if you ever die enough to use it can be even more annoying espescially if you spawn near a few enemies and take a butt ton of bullets whilst stabbing them up, but thats only if you die that much.

commando is probably the best on multi story levels like favela, cause you just jump off stuff after people and you might net an air knife, or better yet go for a falling throwing knife like wootnessy shows in his vids alot.

if i just prestiged up and am level 1 say, i will use first recon class to get me up a few levels quickly and get to create a class at lvl 4.

Commando makes knifing far too easy. If 2 or 3 enemies are doing this, I camp on various high traffic routes and wait for them. They soon ragequit when they can't get within 10 feet to knife me.

I really don't like the whole knifing class because it seems like a cheap way to get kills, but I usually don't complain. I think that they put the things in the game to be able to work to whatever you are good at. I use commando on a knife class early to get levels because it is so easy to get the kills.

I started to really love tac knifing, because it makes campers easy to kill. Enemies that are on the move will often kill me, so its those that camp that receive the payback. I use only ninja btw, commando is pretty gay, I'll only use it if i'm pissed or a sore loser. I think I might start rushing with an SMG though, because i like getting new callsigns and i really want to master a gun but don't know which one...
