Wtf is wrong with IWNET tonight? I played one game perfectly fine, then I was kicked as i could not connect to host, now every game I try to join it joins a lobby then immediately says 'cannot connect to host'. I've tried joining about 15 different games of all and all of the game types. Sometimes its gets as far as the loading screen but doesn't load anything before coming up with cannot connect message again!

Whoever decided iwnet instead of dedicated servers should be lined up against a wall and shot, its shittiest fucking system i've ever used for online gaming. I don't know how console players put up with it. It completely ruins the flow of play with all this host migration bullshit and cannot connect crap. Argh its just pissing me off so much. All i want to do is play 1 game!

QFT. I think most PC gamers (the sane ones) would prefer dedicated servers to this piece of crap "IWNet". I can't count the number of times it has errors with connection time outs, failing to join, and failing in general. It seems to have started crashing hosts too since the last patch. (When starting games)

Not just parties. Same seems to happen in standard public games. I was host, game "started", loaded map, screen goes black, "iw4mp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Downside

I've calmed down now after some sleep, I'm going to try it again later to see if its any better. It just pissed me off so much last night not being able to play the game. The worst part is I don't know what causing it, it could be iwnet, it could be steam or it could be my PC but theres no way to tell. At least with dedicated servers you could try another server and if that failed you was pretty sure it was a problem at your end.

Its a shame really as I never realised how important dedicated servers were until they are taken away. Those who have never used them don't know what they are missing.

It's been a nightmare for the last 48hrs or so. The version number's gone up a notch (.074 to .075? I can't check from here but did take a note last night), and that seems to be when the trouble started.
It can take me 5mins just to get onto a game, lobbies close with no warning, a couple of times the game's just shut down completely and dumped me onto the desktop just as the level finished loading.

Do IW care? Nah. PC gaming's an afterthought and publishers are actively making it harder to bear. We all got copies of the game we said we'd boycott -in my case because it only cost me £24- and we all sit evening after evening staring at the loadup screen like loyal puppies, no matter how hard IW beat us and leave us in the rain.

Expect .076 sometime next week, if we're lucky.

Downside

Although I didn't buy the game and got it as xmas present (I actually wanted the game) so my brother wouldn't have to struggle to find me something. I naively assumed that when a game in the same franchise is released it gets better (like most games) and you get more of the same not less!

I never did any research online prior to playing so you can imagine how gutted I was when I saw iwnet, I actually thought the game was broken (which theoretically it is). Only then did I check online and noticed the massive uproar about no dedi's and all the other missing stuff from cod4. Suppose it will teach me to get a game without any prior research but I though that something like COD MW was in safe hands. I didn't get W@W as everyone said the last treyarch games sucked and I seemed to have been right with that one. Shame really as i've now lost all faith in IW.

I actually hate hosting games, as I feel like i'm cheating. Gettings kills not because you reacted fasted but because your PC can takes all sense of achievement out of it. The saying 'he who host, owns the most' couldn't be more true for this game.

lol, i'm european and i get killed by americans because of my connection. i mean, i'm sure some of them have good reflexes, but i doubt a 12yo could beat me in reflexes, i've practiced martial arts since i was 8 and this is riddiculous, i actually have to start shooting before i turn a corner, or i'll be shot before i even see the little bastard.

and the crash problems are also on the xbox, so i guess IW wanted to screw us all.

First, let me say I'm a 360 user. Also, I played exclusively on PC until about 2006 or so. One of my favorite things about online gaming with PCs was the dedicated servers, mods, admins, a place to call your own. And your connection depended on YOU, nothing else (except maybe proximity to the server).

Now, as a 360 user playing MW2, it truly astounds me how vital a role lag plays in this game. Then there's lag compensation...crock a shit. Not to mention, host migrations, connecting to hosts, finding hosts, merging hosts and lobbies. I say fuck hosts!

There's nothing like being in a showdown with all the momentum in the world to win (or lose) in a match, then have it all come crashing down because some fucker (host) decided he wanted to quit. I mean, interrupt my gaming session a little more.

Or, when you start off like 6-0 or something, and your team gets off to a really quick start (20-5 in like the first 2 minutes), and then the host quits. You lose the flow of the game, the momentum, it's just a general pain in my ass!

Or, my personal favorite, when IWNet throws you into a game that's 30-72, with about 20 seconds left in the match. And if you join that game, you will be on the losing team...because who quits when they're up 72-30 anyway? Oh, that shit grinds my gears!

Or, when you just get inexplicable lag spikes for 3-4 minutes. Grand.

Or, you come around a corner and kind of half-way meet an enemy, then before you can react you're dead. Then, watching kill cam, you wonder how what your char saw differs so much from what the kill cam shows...differences in yards of positions of characters. Or you know you got a 2 shot burst off, but kill cam shows nothing. Bend me over a little more please...

I mean, I don't mean to turn this into a shit eating contest, but when I constantly have 3 green bars (which is stupid...why not give me a concrete value - like a number!), I expect to play a lag free game, and I expect kill cams to show the same shit I saw.

But it's not the case.

Also, my parties get broken up constantly. IWNet will break our party of 5 up, and put 2 of us in one game, 1 guy in a different game, and just leave the other 2 in pre-game wondering wtf is going on.

This is one of the worst MP systems I've ever been a witness to. Oh did I mention horrible lag, lag compensation, and fucktardly inaccurate kill cams?

Another thing that annoys me is when searching for a game it throws me into one thats nearly finished which doesn't bother me so much, its waiting 40+ seconds for an intermission, then a bunch of people get kicked so we have to wait for more players to join, then it decides teams, then has the count down to start. Once game has started you then have to wait for everyone to connect before the game can begin! thats several minutes wasted just waiting for a game to start and if you get disconnected because it cant connect to the host then you have to do it all over again! I spend more time waiting than playing!

Did Inshittity Ward ever test this pile of crap?

Yeh IWNET do suck, holy shit I was at my cousins house playing MW2 on his PC and god the connection is horrendous, I remember playing COD4 on his PC connection was amazing, Iwnet really do suck.
