How do you guys get FMJ kills, is there any tips?? I don't know if it's just me, but I always seem to get the kills BEFORE they run into cover, (or they kill me)

Find them when they are already hiding behind something. Instead of going for headshot when they stick it above the parapet, shoot through the wall/fence etc at their torso.

I read some of the other thread but if you do want to do some of it in free for all you can watch for others' firefights and get the wounded victor in a building. If you're not worried about kill ratio you can go with stopping power and no silencer and recon by fire into likely hiding places. I guess that's obvious but it gets you out of waiting for someone to go to cover instead of killing you.

it will come with time like all the chellenges do...
try using a more pwerful gun aswell as fmj like the AK47 or TAR21 if u dont have the ak. seems like those work better to me

I got my FMJ on the MP5 by drinking heavily, then ONLY playing favela, invasion,scrapyard+estate.

Funnily enough i cant remember actually getting it or when i stopped running round like a madman...but i got it.

While this topic is in discussion, I have a related question:

What constitutes an FMJ kill; does only one of the bullets used in killing a player need to be shot through a surface, do all the shots damaging the player have to be through a surface or does only the final bullet fired have to be through a surface?

Downside

FMJ challenges just seem like the kind of challenge you can only get by playing a lot. Its not something you can really have a tactic for. You could try focusing on only playing building heavy levels such run down, karachi, invasion or favela as you get more campers in windows on these levels. As for the gun to use, well that depends on which gun your trying to get challenge completed for obviously.

You only other surefire option is a wall hack which you should/would be banned for using.

Okay, this tactic requires a BIT of coordination between you and a friend.
Map: Skidrow
Bottom floor of the 'Main' building there is a bookcase
crouch behind the bookcase, and have your friend outside (by the mounted MG) have him use a sniper and watch the door behind the bookcase. and when someone enters the bookcase room, he tells you, and you spray through the bookshelf. (scavenger is recommended) easy FMJ kills. i made about 11bullet Penetration kills in 1 match of sabotage.
if your worried about your back being exposed either use a claymore. or equip a blast shield. so noob tubes/nades/rockets wont kill you. and have your sniper buddy cover your back.
This tactic is a bit easier.
Go to the room above the bookcase area. In the hallway there is a gap in the floor, if you go prone there, and spray through the wood when you see someone, you can also get kills that way. not as effective, and it's a bit harder to get ammo, so i'd recommend OMA pro for a quick refill.
Tactic 3
Basically like the 2nd, but instead of a sniper spotter, you can have someone with a riot shield stand by the door in the bookshelf room, while you camp in the room above and spray through the wood, since they will spot the riot shield and wont be as eager to run by. allowing you more FMJ kills (HBS can help since his shield will protect him, and you can see through the floor with it)

Just kill people through surfaces, there's no special way about it. It took me forever to get the 40 FMJ kills for the M4 mastery. On highrise, you can kill people by shooting them through glass, cubicles...

However I have gotten a few while a person is bobbing in and out of a window. Maybe if you do the majority of damage through a surface or something.

As a tip, I just keep using the gun and play regular. I find more times than not if I try to do anything "special" to get FMJ kills I just die and ruin my play style. I just keep at it until I finish. So far I have more of the rifles done as far as FMJ kills and gold titles go, but by far the hardest weapons to get it with are some SMGs (Uzi, MP5K in particular, though the Vector took me like a week) and the sniper rifles, mainly the intervention.

I get most of myFMJ kills through glass too so it can't just be the final bullet. In fact i try to get all mine through glass since there are so many windows in nearly all the maps... camp at one till you get a kill, move onto the next pane of glass... continue

Okay, i've found a very easy tactic to get FMJ kills. (works with ANY type of weapon) (Not sure if anyone said exactly this, if so. ignore this post)

Map: Highrise

game mode: Sabotage (works best). gives people a reason to come into the buildings

On one side of the map, one of the buildings you spawn in have a "Skylight/window" on the roof. if your team Spawns on that side. Great!

what you have to do is go into the room with the skylight. and if you look past the bombsite, you will see 2 'Offices' with blinds covering the windows

. if you hide in those offices and shoot through those blinds and kill someone. you ARE awarded penetration kills. and since the blinds have tiny slits above and below them, if you position yourself in the right places. you can easily see past them. and then spray through the blinds. killing the person your looking at. and since they are very thin objects. and since you have FMJ on. you suffer VERY little, if none at all. damage reduction.

i got 23 FMJ kills in 1 round of Sabotage by doing that. very effective, very simple. because you can watch 2/4 of the entrances into the building. and if you have a HBS on your weapon as well (Bling OFC) you can 'see' anyone attempting to get into the building. (assuming they don't have Ninja on) and if anyone attempts to enter through the underground way, you can spray through the cubicles. the only downsides it has, is people with thermal can easily see you through the blinds. Or if your spawn is in the other building. your pretty much screwed.

but i found this to be a very effective, and simple way to obtain FMJ kills. it makes it easy for SMG's, LMG's AR's and SR's. AND the best part is, if your doing Sabotage your helping your team by defending the bomb site.

In Terminal, one of the choke points is the entrance to the aircraft that connects to the building. With FMJ, you can stand outside under the plane and spray away through the fuselage and the boarding tunnel. You'll commonly see body parts glitching through the walls a lot, and that gives you something to aim for. Otherwise hitmarkers are your friends. Add a silencer (Bling perk, obviously) and you might last longer before someone is on to you. It's pretty short range, so the silencer doesn't reduce damage I think.

It is easy to get FMJ kills on Quarry. Camp in the upper window of the building with the missle tank and look to your lower left. You will often be able to shoot someone between the two windows. Careful though, someone may get an FMJ kill off of you.

Well there was a video on youtube when WingsOfRedemption got easy FMJ kills.

You need ground war. Domination on highrise.

make sure they spawn in the building with black windows.
then get on the helicopter top.
get one man army and stopping power.
shot the windows and you should get 10+ FMJ kills.

How about you play a cage match, Ask your partner if you can have FMJ kills instead of Headshots, Yes it may sound like its cheating, but at the end of the day you are booth cooperating and no one else is in the looby to get pissed off about it.

I did third person team tatical. That seems to help because if you shoot though you see over something you half the time are shooting into a piece of wood.
If you aren't playing third person then I would say its just a matter of luck of seeing a guy behind a object.

I find that it's a lot easier if you don't try ONLY for penetration kills.

You'd be surprised how many penetration kills you get without trying. I average about 5 or so a game. Just play normally and you'll get it pretty fast.
