Cool A new and improved UAV

Imagine someone on your team calling a UAV, now imagine looking at the bottom right of your screen at your Dpad and seeing a little UAV icon mapped to the down button. When you press it, you open a laptop and get an AC130-like view of the map(this is the view from the UAV) complete with your enemies highlighted with red boxes, and the "You" marker. There is a little timer at the bottom right that tells you how much time is left until the UAV expires. Would you find the UAV Killstreak more interesting if it were like this?

Um, no! Albatross, what are you on? What's the point of getting an AC-130's point of view? You can't do anything but view, you'd have to exit out and go find someone you spotted who may or may not be at the place you saw him.

Yeah, but it can be used for tactical ops!!

Ok how about this: the original version stays intact, but this would be an extra feature!

I won't go so far as to say that you can run around and control your character while in this view, but I think this would make UAVs a little more exiting to get, and there might actually be some practical ways to use this(i.e. it's a cool view )

Or better yet, the UAV will have 6 small automatic guns attached to it, and your whole team can use this view at the same time and shoot at the enemies(Don't forget that the UAV circles the map)

I'd still say no to be honest, UAV is already a huge advantage in itself and having the ability to see exactly where the enemy is (on which storey, what they are hiding behind e.t.c) is far too unrealistic and gives the team too great an advantage, especially for 3 kills or 2 with hardline.

Also the idea of putting weaponry on a UAV is bad as it would make it a form of air support for only 3 kills. Promotes even more the old habits of camping and kill whoring.

Wait a minute, let me get this straight...

So after just 2 kills (hardline) a team member can go and hide and get a 30 second AC130-style cam, which is very hard to shoot down, and they can see the exact movements of the enemy and lead their team right to them via half-decent communication?!?!

And I though Akimbo 1887 were overpowered. You have just redefined overpowered.


Makes UAV more interesting? YES
More life-like & fun? YES
Makes the game ABSOLUTE HELL if the other team gets it? YES
Do I want it in the game? NO.

4/20 was ten days ago...

pressing start gives you a full map. An AC130 view is worse, because a red box thru a building wont tell you exactly where they are in a building.

and the weaponry idea made me

On which story? o.O How can you tell?

And btw Uavs aren't overpowered as long as you can spot them and shoot them down. On some maps theyre impossible to see though.

I would never use this cause my guy is left unprotected with no way to defend myself. At least with CG and AC-130 I can kill people. This is a definite NO.

I don't why people would be so against themselves having this!!!

Just IMAGINE team games with it.

2 kills, get UAV.
Next round, hide at spawn and direct your team mates perfectly towards each individual enemy.

I play solo in random teams, that wouldn't work. It would be like trying to direct Stevie Wonder through a driving obstacle course while you are watching from a mountain top 1 click away.

Teammate1: Which two story building.
Guy with UAV: The one in the middle of the map near the tree.
Teammate 2: Hey I see a guy on my radar what floor is he in?
Guy with UAV: Umm where are you at?
Teammate 2: I'm by the bunker! Hurry up!!
Guy with UAV: Umm I can't tell from this angle, give me a few seconds.
Teammate1: WTF seriously dude there are...*background gunfire noise*
Teammate1: Dude what the hell why didn't you tell me there was a guy coming from behind me?
Guy with UAV: Hey I can only direct one guy at a time, fuck off.

Moral of story tunnel vision both for UAV guy and ground guy, only able to relay minimal information, general UAV works better cause it won't cause dependency, and slower gameplay if anyone listens to it at all.

You seen the vid vis posted about decent communication during matches?

Just imagine what he & co would be capable of with a 30 second user-controlled all seeing eye. Current UAV just shows a bearing, this idea would be able to say everything "enemy behind 3rd barrel on the left hand side of room you're assaulting" - for example. That level of detail is match winning.

It could be good. Call it "Advanced UAV" and have it 5/6 kills.

Being able to use the mouse/analogue stick to move the camera about while it orbits, perhaps with a chance to zoom as well to get a better idea where people are camping.

It could be useful if you have really good team communication but for the most part it would be very hard for people to communicate properly and effectively. I could see maybe in SnD and HQ it being fairly effective but overall I think people would home in on the one position and not scan like normal.

Yeah, have one guy hide and spot others going for objectives. He'd be vulnerable, but hey, just go sit wherever you would usually hide when you call in a CG/AC130

You'd have to be with a clan, then yes, but since I just play with random people, no, meaning it wouldn't workout well.

I like the idea. I hit start all the time during a uav to see the map better so i think having a laptop to quickly get a larger view of the map (with or without uav) would prove usefull. But what i like most about this idea is the timer. I've always wanted a countdown timer to tell me how long my uav will be airborn or the enemies uav.

Edit: I didn't know he meant being able to see how deep into a building someone is. Thast a little too much. I'd like the basic harrier strike view.

Y would you need someone to direct you the UAV tells you were they are any ways, if you have a little common sense you would know where they are going or if they are coming for you. leaving yourself vulnerable for 30 seconds when you could be doing something usefull like actually protecting a base/flag or saving a team mates butt.
like many pointed out this would only work with good communication and even then you would be a man down. Half the time 11/12 players don't even have a headset on!
