Perks add a dimension to the game, there is no disputing that. It can make a game enjoyable for average players, and offer other players a way to counter.
My whole dispute over them is the basis of realism in combat. I know its a game and these are the things that help sell it, and create forum topics like this one. But if you were to think of how the art of combat would change in real life if these were authentic perks it would be awesome.

So lets display a few actual things vs the perks.

Speed perks:
Hmmm if we could enhance our ability to run with bionic speed and stab a person from 10' away, and include no way for a person to hear you. I think our military would love this. No
Stopping power:
Its already been done, you can add power to bullets by increasing the blast. Yes
juggernaught:
Is there a pill we can take to keep us from death on a first bullet hit. No

Can we jump from a 75' cliff and not get hurt landing on solid ground..No

I could go on, but think about it, does it make sense in a realism format No, does it in a game well i guess Yes.

MW2 missed a few perks, like this one

Dworf- Your solder is a midget /pro/ even smaller

Play dead - as long as your solder is on the ground, he looks like a dead body/pro/ can knife and still look dead

Steel toed boots- you can't be stabed in the foot/pro/ if you step on a guy in prone position, you kill them

Moon shoes- jump higher/ pro/ jump even higher

Counter- if you press the knife button you can kill a staber/ pro/ press stab before your actually dead

Throw- you can throw equipment far/ pro/ you can throw other players (dead or alive)

Matrix- you can doge any attack if you matrix bar is full/ pro/ bar fills faster

Spy- enimy dots are always on the map/ pro/ unefected by scrambler and counter uav

Super bling- like bling but you can put 3 attachments/ pro/ 4 attachments on primary only

Superman - can fly /pro/ can't die unless hit by cryptonight. Which you can find in caves and hidden safes.

There was more but MW2 took them out becouse they thought they where 2 cheep..

^You considered that juggernaut could just mean that you get added body armour? Or even just get a stronger character - although in real life you ain't got hit points, there are certain people who can take more bullets than others.

No, but there's body armor we can wear to protect ourselves from bullets. Which is, in-essence, what Juggernaught was. You've just mixed it up with Painkiller, which is a Deathstreak, not a perk. Completely different things.

Why do so many people hate salvage? That's the one and only new map that I really love. Mabye on PC the graphics aren't as good so it's ugly for you?

And Bailout is pretty fun, the spawn system is just completely fucked up though. I have literally seen people spawn RIGHT in front of my eyes.

It's another noob tube map. If you start on the A dom side (even in TDM) you are completely fucked and will be spawn raped all game.

So I deleted the map packs and tried it out. (I'm basically comparing ground war with map packs to ground war without)

Yes, Noob filled lobbies. It's possible to get lobbies where more than half the players are non prestige.

The only bonus I found, however, was that air support gets a lot more kills. Harrier often equals automatic AC130. People don't shoot down air support as often. in map pack GW air support is often worthless. With map packs you get lots of people who start games with stingers.

On the sucky side. There is a shit ton of M-L-C. A shit ton of M-L-C revenge killers. Noobs will revenge kill the shit out of you if it takes them 10 tries. A lot of heart beat sensors.

What was really weird... A lot of frag grenades. So if you are uber camped up you will get the shit grenaded out of you. not dissing 'nades. I just don't see them as often anymore.

1 on 1 gun fights are generally a little easier. It's easy to steal kills from teammates who cant aim.

The enemies are less predictable. Spawns switch more often. Because everyone one is running around randomly like retards. Much less camping.

It was hard to have a KD less than 2. Though I did have one game where I went 1-7 and rage quit. I got stabbed 6 times by tac knives and noob tubed once.

It's certainly different. I haven't had any monster games but a lot of good/great games with high KD due to awesome AC130s. I got juggernaut accolade almost every game I played. Because most people had 20+ deaths and I rarely die more than 10 times in a game.

I'm going to play with stimulus only for a while. I can uber camp the stimulus maps.

You could probably get a claymore only (+killstreaks) nuke without the map packs.

Just call me optimus noob.

FFA is a joke without the map packs. I can get a chopper gunner just about every game. Just have to outsmart the tac knifers and hide real good when you call in your predator. Probably better off not even using the predator. Go straight to 7-9-11.
