I play MTDM, TDM, and FFA most of the time, and the new map pack has forced me to play the other game types constantly. Consequently, I've found I'm horrible at them.
I'm generally a run and gun type of player, going from cover to cover, reaching a building and picking off 2 or 3 people and then running out and seeking cover elsewhere, etc. With these new maps, and the camping that seems to go on in some of the objective game types, I'll shoot two guys, and as soon as I leave cover I get shot by someone staring out a window that was out of my line of sight. This, combined with my lack of knowledge of the maps, is almost forcing me to camp, which doesn't help me learn the maps. So, all you SnD gurus out there (and demolition, and HQ, etc.) give me some pointers. OT: Has anyone on PS3 noticed you get Fuel about 75% of the time on the Resurgence games? I've played carnival for two half games where I came in in the middle, vacant once, and Trailer park maybe 4 times. Never even played Strike. Fuel I've gotten over and over. |

His saying he is bad, not asking how to avoid them. I think.
Well I enjoy Demolition and FFA the most and demolition requieres probably having cover and being carefull, however there spawn doesnt change much and I tend to try to spawntrap them |

Firstly I NEVER get fuel and I always get vacant..........................I feel your pain about the whole plethora of new game modes. I played a bit of mosh pit before it was (stupidly) removed and it can be a real strain to do well on all fronts. I think you just have to bow down to the S and D experts as they are out and out dedicated to that mode, I'd use a silencer and explore the best routes to and from the bomb in a private game, put lower kill streaks on than usual and indeed use SOH. When I play all the game modes its the one game mode that I can really take a beating on as the patience and knowledge these guys have is quite exceptional. I think with objective games the trick is to not be quite in the thick of things and sort of pick people off on the way to the objective/environment. I use a TAR/Tube combo on explosive game modes like demo and hq. With capture the flag you have to decide if you want to be offensive or defensive. Go for the flag with a speedy class or A nice accurate class to pick off attackers. I think domination can be confusing if you randomly dash from a to b to c. Pick a flag ( preferably b) and look to pick off attackers or indeed defend it, it goes without saying all flags should never be captured as it makes the enemy spawns too random. I think learning the maps takes time ( im myself barely know them) . Its seemingly obvious but changing your gun depending on the game mode is also important as is equipment choice. Claymore the flag on CTF but keep a semtex handy for the nub filled room in HQ.
Remember in game modes like HQ you only get one life and the opponents get multiple, appreciating where they are all going to be running from is a great way to get high scores, similarly if people are attacking a bomb site on demo they will have to reappear somewhere , getting to know that area is advantageous . Im not saying spawn kill but appreciating spawn points in objective games is important. Sabo is a team game that requires a team effort to secure the environment and indeed place the bomb, so having mates available is key for this one. Objective game modes can be explosive and people tend to carry launchers so often choppers are shot down in seconds. Id opt for sentry guns ( to guard key points ) and pred/precision/stealth combos. |

Vacant seems like a great CQC map. I actually ran my LSW FMJ class on it and did pretty well in a game of demo. only played it that one time tho.
I'm just getting damn sick of Fuel lately. |

This is for the OP.
I play mostly TDM and like you I played the map pack stuff and got thrown into a buch of game modes that I almost never play. The thing that helped me the most was finding out what classes to run. Like for SnD I used a stealth class. For Demo I carry as many explosives as I can. There are many threads on this forum that give you very helpful hints on what the best setups are for each game mode(thanks everyone ). You can also read what the best weapons are in the game, you can't really go wrong with:TAR W/nade launcher or FMJ or Silencer for SnD or silenced UMP Stinger or RPG for maximum carnage Claymore Scav or SoH for SnD SP or CB for SnD Ninja/Commando These are the things I use when my games are not going well and it makes it much easier. But there are many different setups that are effective so experiement but changing classes. |

Yeah, I'll need to unlock the silencer on my trusty MP5K again. I've been working on some different guns and I don't really think a silenced L86 is going to do me alot of good :P
Good advice though, I wish I hadn't just prestiged... |

I like how Sandy Ravage refers to SnD as "Snooze and Dreams"
I guess some people get into it, but I find that getting sniped 10 seconds into the game and then watching my teammate stare at the wall for 5 minutes is pretty boring. Anyway, play styles will vary between all objective games. The strategy changes when the objective is more than just "rack up the most kills" If people camp a lot, learn where the camping spots are, flank em', and catch em by surprise. Or else pack a lot of firepower (akimbo pistols, shotgun, etc) and try to get them up close. Akimbo Rafficas will smoke a sniper up close any day. |

Did alot better last night and this morning. I'm still horrible at SnD.
an LMG is awesome for domination and HQ, find a choke, gun em down, move to different choke, repeat, etc. |

your team is much more important with objective-based games. If you play with friends then it's self-explanatory, communicate and you'll probably win.
If you're playing with randoms things are very different but you can still use your team-mates to help your own game. From the obivous such as protecting bomb-carriers, flags, bomb sites etc, constantly check your mini-map to see where your team are moving. This will often let you know if your flank is covered or in the instance of a suddenly-disappearing green arrow, the presence of the enemy. You will probably find it a bit easier predicting enemy movements with objectives as well, as many people will simply take the fastest route from A-B, make sure you're there to ambush them. |

i get vacant a lot. i play on ps3 and dont really see very much camping. i still destroy as usual. Im always in the top 3 kdr on every game and almost always get 2 eads a game which i dont take any crates. I dont camp. i run and gun with a mini uzi. I have 1 class set up for search and my normal classes. For search go assualt rifle (i use tar-21) bling with heartbeat and silencer. Just go stealth and stay moving. Just run around the outskirts of the map picking jerks off. Do the objectives or just go for kills what ever you feel comfortable with. I've found that there is enough people going for the objectives to win. Go for the objectives if they are near you and use lower killstreaks. im not having any issues with this map pack and if you just do the game mode you shouldnt either.

I play a lot of SnD and Demolition. If you're new to it, then think this: Look around at every corner, you have to get used to thinking outside of the box, like 'Could this person be there? Is that an effective place for others to camp? Should I start checking there?' It'll become second nature, which has me struggling sometimes on those 'Run and Gun' kind of playlists and maps. But hey, I sure do kill the campers. Oh, and as much as people rant, the Heartbeat Sensor and Grenade Launcher are your friends if your new to objective-type playlists.
