Hi- I am new to this game because my gf moved and gave me her X-Box. She was at level 67, but didn't prestige. I scratched and clawed my way to level 70 and unlocked some stuff. Now I am at level 70.

The problem is- I SUCK! I don't know any of the maps that well or where I am going, or how to even use a killstreak reward that well. I consider it good if I get a 1-1 K/D ratio- usually I get a 1/2 ratio. I searched the forums for the benefits of prestiging (extra custom slot, emblem, new challenges) and think I will prestige once for the challenges.

My question is this: Will I be matched up with much more highly skilled players if I prestige? Is matchmaking based on rank, prestige, xp?

And also, if matchmaking is based on prestige, do all 1st level prestige players get matched together with other 1st prestige (10th prestige with other 10th prestige players, etc.) - or are all prestige players considered the same? I think I will prestige now once, but do not know if I should keep prestiging again. Keep in mind, I didn't even earn this first prestige.

I am getting killed enough as it is and it is simply not fun getting 3 kills 15 deaths.

Also 1 last question-what are the benefits of prestiging again if I already did it (other than the one emblem and xtra slot)?

You get some emblems, titles, extra class slot and some new challenges if you prestige.

You'll probably be put amongst similar skill leveled players (thats the way matchmaking works, I think) however, you'll be more likely to come across higher skilled players than if you didn't prestige.

I'd stay at level 70 until you're comfortable with the game and can go positive consistently.

I agree with Platypus. Stay at level 70 and get yourself comfortable with the game, the maps, etc because even though you'll be playing against higher-level players, it doesn't necessarily correspond to higher skill. They just know the maps and the game better than you right now. I'd say once you prestige you get matched up with a bit higher level players (mostly all of them have prestiged at least once) but really from there i think it's a bit random, even if you prestige more

Once you prestige you will be matched with all prestiged players, including 10th prestige level 70! Having said this, just because someone has a high prestige level doesn't make them a better player, I reckon about half the 10th prestigers are hacked anyway. Just play the game and enjoy it, don't be competitive, don't worry about kdr, just have fun. Get to know the maps, read some guides (in this forum) and play for fun not wins. It will come to you eventually. So to answer your question, definately prestige. Yes you will play higher level players but that is also how you learn. Don't forget you also get the "prestige only" tasks to complete.

to me the matchmaking seems completely random, there is probably some kind of system but buggered if it works.

Things to note for prestige, it doesn't really indicate skill just overall playin time. Anyone can grind their way for 20 days and get P10, better players will reach 10 in less time but there's no way of knowing.
Almost everyone has prestiged since the game has been out for a while now so you shouldn't be concerned about prestigers being better etc.

My suggestion is to stay at 70 since you have all the unlocks. Play around with each gun, master mainly the Tar-21 and UMP and then prestige so you can get classes/titles etc and can unlock things for yourself

The matchmaking seems random.

When I play with the map packs uninstalled I can roll full lobbies of 0 prestige noobs lower than rank 50. I'm prestige 7.

With stimulus installed there are fewer noobs, but they're still kind of rare.

With resergence installed noobs are very rare.

Yeah, really, stay at level 70 with the better weapons, then after you're comfortable, and you have a firm grasp on the game, you know that guns you like, what guns you don't like, what perks you're comfortable with, etc., it'll be time to move on. Oh, and a benefit from prestiging over and over? You get the feeling of progress. It's a good feeling.

Matchmaking is primarily based on location. After that, it is not certain if it is based on anything at all.

Prestige provides you with a few more challenges, titles, emblems and a new class slot.

People as close as possible/people with the best possible ping.

Although, as you've probably gathered, this still doesn't work very well.
