Default How to be proficient with more than one gun?

Basically, I'll take a gun and use it extensively, mastering it and then going for headshots, etc. I find when I switch to others, I am horrible with them.

Example: This prestige I decided to run around with the L86 alot. When I switch to FAMAS, which I destroyed with last prestige, I find I'm getting alot less 1 burst kills ,etc. So, I switch back to my L86 and do great.

How do you focus on one weapon to obtain achievements without losing your edge with your other weapons?

each gun has its own tactics. It's like mastering an instrument. It's always going to be a little bit unnerving when you switch.

I use certain guns for certain maps while playing certain game-modes using certain tactics. SO I certainly don't use certain guns every match.

I guess my problem is with the current gun I'm using, I've got a long and mid range gun, so I only really switch when I'm in a close quarters sort of map like favela or skidrow.

Use the TAR-21, and you won't need to switch anymore

But anyway, I have main 3 weapons:

MP5K for CQB.
AUG for long range.
And the TAR for EVERYTHING/middle range.

I always have 3 classes with those weapons ready, I switch between depending on map or the my role, Rushing/Flanking/Marksmanship(lol). Just keep on using them for their appropriate uses and I automatically get accustomed with all of them where they work best.

Maybe transition from the two with a SCAR or ACR, that way you get used to an AR but one that has a similar firing mechanism as the LMG.

Dont know if that will work for you, but in the past it has for me. Most recently going from a TAR to M16. I couldnt get used to the M16s burst fire so I switched to the FAMAS (a gun Ive always been able to fall back on) to get used to burst fire for a while. After that the M16 just felt more natural.

I used to be awesome with the FAMAS. it was just aim, shoot, fire, kill. I love the TAR, ust exploaring some less used guns.

I switch through all of them, I think it's good to swap around and any gun can give u good results if used correctly.

That's true, most of MW2 is knowing where to be at the right time. A bullet or two in someones chest kills someone ayway.

I rotate, even when going for achievements. 50mins - hour of the main gun then 20 mins of something else. It's like taking a break from studying, when you go back to the main weapon you feel refreshed and more alert.

Coming from a musician and a player who is better than nearly everyone single player on this forum, this is not true.

Oh really? im a musician too and i find that when you switch to another instrument your habits for playing certain notes can screw you up and make it much harder to play.

For a gun in MW2, however, that is not the case. You just THINK that it is the case because you are apply instrument logic to weapons.

I remember when I was like in love with three round bursts i would constantly be using famas, m16 and raffikas. And when i went back to fully automatic, it was weird. Anyway I like to get camos on my guns I think I'm level 40 and now have blue tiger on the famas. But I've only had fall once before and it felt pretty good because it was completely legit, and I wanna do it again.

The vast majority of guns in MW2 are just fast-killing, pinpoint-accurate bullet hoses. Some are more hosey than others (F2000, AK47, MP5K), others are more accurate (ACR, UMP .45). If you know how to use one gun in MW2, then you pretty much know how to use all of the guns in MW2. The only real limiting factor is recoil; all you have to know is the range it stops being effective.

Not that it should matter, anyway. Who the fuck uses a recoil-heavy gun in MW2?

Same here. I also used Copycat in the beginning to get a feel for other weapons since I was hella noob. After I get bored with one weapon I move to something else.

Everyone just master killing people from any range with the FAL or Pistols then every other weapon is easy to use. It will teach you to tap the triger instead of using them like bullet hoses. I kill many people who try to hose me down with every bullet in thier gun and all it takes is tap, tap.

The best example for this is the AK47 IMO. I rocked it, mastered it and next prestige sucked with it... :S
