Just wondering about this. I've played CoD4 for quite a long time and I always tried as fast as I can to prestige to the next level. I have other friends that like to take their time and finish most of the challenges before prestiging up once again. Then there are others who don't even care about the prestige mode.
How will you play this out in MW2?

(and yes, I know "prestiging" is not a true word)

Well...if there are rewards for prestiging (like extra class slots as in WaW) then I will do the first few levels of prestige as quickly as I can...then after I've unlocked as much as I want (for instance, I didn't feel the need for all 5 extra class slots in WaW), I will probably focus on the challenges.

All depends on what the rewards are for going through the prestige levels...

Well that's quite disapointing... I was expecting maybe when you reach final prestige you get the ability to earn gold camo (I hear its not unlockable anymore) or maybe slight advantages with each prestige you do e.g. 1st prestige - nothing / 2nd prestige - 5% better accuracy on guns / 3rd prestige - 5% better damage over range / 4th prestige - 5% quicker reloads etc.

I'm quite happy with the extra class slots...it gives you something but it doesn't make the game imbalanced in favour of all the people who have too much time on their hands!

Everyone would be boosting so that they would have an advantage. You shouldn't get an advantage on everyone else just because you have more time to play than others. It should all come down to skill that way it's fair, which is why this game is so good.

I got to lv. 8 on COD4, and will one day get to 10, but I rarely play, so who knows. I prestiged once on W@W, but didn't go further cos the starting guns are crap, the point system is geared towards 55 levels and it just got boring, so I decided to work on challenges instead. For MW2, I definately plan on going to the end as this time I'll have the game from day one and a solid group to play with.

and say you get MW2 for Xmas or your birthday next year, I remember I got COD4 at Xmas and there were already people on like prestige 4.

Amen. Its better early than late into the lifespan of MW2, like I did with COD4, it took me one year to get to 10th prestige. Having an early start puts you in the same league and map as the others who are starting out in MW2.

What I did for CoD4 is play through, FFA mind you so I had way more time between prestiges, get challenges, have a good time with the things I had, then spent some time at 55. After about 2 weeks at 55, I'd prestige and start the process over again. Thats what I see myself doing this time around.

Still havnt decided if im going to prestige not sure its worth it I like having all my guns. I dont care about some special symbol by my name altho the extra class might be nice. I dont get time to play the game as much as some people maybe an hr or 2 a nite and only 3-4 times a week. I dont have the time to put into video games like I did when I was in school.

How does staying on 70 make you a noob? there are people who don't have allot of time to play and for them to prestige would be stupid since it would take so long to get to 70 again, and for what? a different symbol next to their name, a title and emblem and an extra custom class slot, hardly worth giving up all the things you unlocked and resetting your challenges (especially if you have done some of those ridiculous ones)

I was going to stay at 70, and i did for a few days, but just hit the switch. I find it keeps me more interested to constantly be completing challenges. I get sick of the game when there are just a few challenges left, I become a try hard (they type who i hate to see playing) and it takes the fun out of the game for me.
