The term "rushing" finds its roots in Counter-Strike, the first popular games of its type to feature discreet rounds of map resets. The term "rush" was applied to describe a set of tactics employed to realise the strategy of reaching a point on the map before a set time in order to gain a tactical advantage. This was meaningful because of the map resets that occured every round, making the enemy team's movements at the beginning of a round fully predictable and, therefore, making it possible to determine a specific timeframe within which to reach a location. With the advent of Call of Duty's SnD gametype, the term transferred itself to the game quite well within that game type.

MW2 players use it to describe being a reckless shit with a UMP in TDM. Oh glory.

Just the same as in SnD in Call of Duty, everyone respawns back at a set position at the start of every round, I think, i've only ever played about 3 games of CSS.

are u serious, ur being "smart" over a term people uses. The term rushing, to me, means to ignore the conventional act smart and look everywhere SnD gameplay and rush, in the sense speed, to the other side of the map or point where people will be caught off guard. Being a reckless shit is still rushing as u are, in sense of speed again, still running to points of the map where known action will be.

You need to get out more mate and off the computer.

So fucking what. The word rush can also apply to the act of just rushing around in general. No need to get angry and make a thread about it, not everyone knows/cares about counter strike's game tactics. After all, it is a word outside of games too.
