What kind of player are you? Of course, a decent portion of the community participates in both play-styles. However, which play-style caters more to you? Which is more effective and nets you the highest score, whether it be kills, flags, or bomb sites?

Aggressive Traits

Prefers running around more and getting the kills.
Aggressively captures flags/control points.
Takes the bomb and plants it quickly.
Quick reaction times for CQC battles.
Rushes specific routes to flank the enemy.
Uses Sub-Machine Guns more often than Assault/Sniper rifles.
Generally executes low end killstreaks like the UAV for constant radar.

Defensive Traits

Hangs back at a spot in the map and overlooks the areas.
Prefers letting the kills come to them in a protected area.
Prefers the use of Claymores to prevent unwelcomed flanks.
Uses more long-range weapons such as Sniper/Assault Rifles/LMGs.
Defends already acquired flags/control points/bomb sites.
Generally executes high end killstreaks for a lasting effect.

There are much more general traits than the ones listed, but anyway, feel free to vote and voice opinions naturally. I'm more of an aggressive player, not because I strongly dislike camping, but because it's easier for me to fight in close-quarters battles, and I don't mind risking a few deaths to get the flags captured, or to assist in flushing the enemies out of their camping spots.

I'm one of the most aggressive players, which explains my 0.84 KD.

I have to say neither aggresive nor defensive because I mix them both up. I think that to be successful you have to find a good balance between the two factors. If I'm on defense I tend to chill back and let them come to me and rack up kills because hey, they have to come to me in order to win and if they keep on coming back and I kill them why move? I do prefer Smg's over the other gun types and I usually run Marathon Lighweight Ninja classes but that doesn't prevent me from chillin back with the ACR / Famas the next game. I change my gamestyle depending on gametype and map. I don't stay in one area throughout the whole game even if I use an AR, I tend to move and push their spawn but at the same time I'm not endlessly rushing into their spawn and getting myself killed. I do play more aggresive than defensive, that's for sure but it's up to the individual to interpret what is aggresive and whatnot. Some think that only Marathon and constant rushing is aggresive whilst some think that pushing up with an Assault rifle and pushing slowly forward and taking different positions of the map is aggresive. Personally I think I play aggresive most of the time but bleh, I can't lable it between the two, hence I took the third option.

I don't see how K/D reflects wether you're aggresive or not, I've got a pretty high KDR and I run and gun quite alot.

I play aggresive in every game type except for FFA. I love busting out the Mp5K and rushing/flanking the hell out of the team for the entire duration, never letting up. Plus, with the guys I play with, i'll have 4 others doing the same thing. It makes for pretty quick games of TDM and very lopsided games of Dom.

I am aggressive, I have tried to play more defensively but I end up getting bored and start trying to rush. If I am playing something like Dom/Dem/Sab I will setup my class for 50/50 agressive/defensive style.

I've found myself playing much more aggressively over the last couple of months. I have a lot more confidence in my abilities now. When I first started playing MW2, I was playing with some of the best players I've encountered (Pub*). It was easy for me to be intimidated because their skill is/will be much greater than mine. Now that I've been playing the game on my own, and having learned from the best, I can say I'm definitely not the one to stay behind in Search & Destroy. I learned really quickly that if you wait around too long, you end up being the last one alive. And I am not that great at clutching. But putting pressure on the enemy team makes the game exciting. Getting them confused and then rushing in for a double or triple kill FEELS FANTASTIC. And it's exactly what I need right now. So I'm gonna go play.

I play aggressively but not in the way that you described.

Movement remains the same but combat is completely different if I'm taking the match that I'm playing seriously. Most of my kills in a proper game are either through walls or via grenades, or while stationary behind cover since it's pretty fucking stupid to stick your head out in CoD4.

Can't imagine why I'd give enough of a shit to think in MW2.

Mostly aggressively, it's just much more fun to me.

And I agree, thinking in MW2 takes to long, and it gets you killed by people who mindlessley sit in a corner with a UMP

Aggressive normally as it's much more fun. Defensive games have their place but to spend 50% of a game watching and waiting (I don't mean camping) seems a bit pointless if you're in a pub match.

semi aggressive. Not good enough to take on the entire enemy team so play as aggressive as my ability allows. I am usually in midfield or on my own on a flank but I die when I get to far into enemy territory

depending on the game mode. in TDM situations I'm usually defensive, but in objective games i get more aggressive

In all fairness, aggressiveness doesnt really translate into low KD, brainless rushing does.
That aside, I'm an extremely aggresive player myself, simply because I don't have the patience to camp.

it depends whether i'm attacking/defending (s&d)
TDM I just run around with my SPAS with MLSA. Agreeing with chaR that playing agressive =/= poor KD. I went 30-3 using the SPAS on Terminal or Favela, can't remember, was playing with ghost though (<3)

That's what I meant to say, but somehow couldn't word it non-offensively xD

Also, I'd like to "that" at the second bit too.

I play aggresively whatever the game mode because I get bored of slow paced COD. Running around being aggressive, sometimes going for flanks, sometimes straight up seemingly suprising a team by running right down the middle on more open maps like Afghan. In TDM this gets a high KD as this is err, what people do in TDM for lots of kills, yet this also works in objective games because you just tear around the map shooting everyone in the back/side who is busy in their own little world playing for objectives. Needless to say this absolutely fails in SD where you only get one life - but then the last COD game that really worked competitively was COD2 hence SD doesn't matter much to me.
