Rush the enemy and push their spawn. Don't sit back but constantly seek for new enemies to kill. For assault rifles, I'd use Sleight of Hand and Stopping power for quick kills and then push up further. If you use a SMG use Marathon and run around and punch the enemy in the neck as they spawn. You don't want to sit in buildings looking out windows but keep on running around in the open. Not necessarely in the middle of the map but flanking.

Don't listen to the post above. If you want to play aggressively, don't model yourself after some ridiculous notion of a "playstyle" that bad players would have you believe is valid. All aggressive play is is a tendency to favour constantly improving your score, whereas defensive play is the tendency to establish an initial score advantage via aggression, then switching to passive tactics in order to deny your opponents while doing little to improve the score gap.

Just keep playing. You improve with time. It's not like this game is hard to master anyway.

Apparently camping and getting kills is aggresive since I improve my score and the score gap.

That's because your opponent doesn't understand the premises under which you're playing the game.

Aggressive and defensive have no meaning in public play. You either play like an idiot and hope that your sill is enough that you come out with a decent score or you don't. Simple as that.

I am then an idiot who can put up big scores consistently while rushing. I still see rushing and pushing up as aggresive and sitting back with claymores and defending an area as defensive. It's logical to me atleast.

Vis' descriptions are easier to understand if you consider an objective game where you are playing as a team. E.g. capture the flag:

aggressive: you just try to capture their flag all of the time and run it back to your own base.
defensive: capture their flag and return it to your base once to go 1-0 up, then just defend your flag for your life for the rest* of the game

*in reality, for a non descriptive sake, it may be a good insurance policy to go a few points up before you turn to phase 2 of the defensive strategy.

It sounds as if some other posters are reffering more towards player's/gametypes where their individual score is more important than the team's score, for example FFA and perhaps controversially TDM. Bear this in mind whilst you argue over two different tangents.

If that's the case, the OP and anyone suggestion anything other than what I am is an idiot. I like to walk into threads without making that assumption first. Doesn't stop that from becoming apparent after a few posts, though.
