The FAL Thread

I was looking for tips/suggestions on using the FAL. I used the search tool and couldn't find anything, so I decided to make this thread.

I was just wondering about different stradegies people use when using this weapon. Class setup or just tactics in general, I would like to know.

Right now, my FAL class consists of this:
FAL w/ RD sight
G18 akimbo

Claymores
Stun Grenades

SoH Pro
CB
Ninja Pro

Any tips or suggestion will be appreciated

Use Holographic Sight when you unlock it. Turns the FAL into a two-shot killer.

If you are using stopping power. Also, red dot sight is not aligned properly on the FAL.

I found 9 threads about the FAL. You should have searched for the tag FAL cause the word FAL shows up in about a million threads that aren't always about the FAL itself.

Holo and swap CB for Stopping Power. I prefer akimbo raffica's on my FAL class but G18's are fine too.

Need a fast trigger finger to compensate for the lack of SP/Holo, but it rapes. Especially in CQC.

This indeed ( although I still use the holo, just find it suits my style better). I already have a CB class so I tend to run hardline on this one for the fun of it. As long as you can fire quickly it is an absolute beast and one of the most satisfying weapons to use as it's more mechanical than a full auto.

Whilst not using the Holografic sight, I'd suggest that you'd use Hardline. I did it with great success and I think you benefit the most from it since Stopping power is ineffective. You level so fast with Hardline and 5-7-8 (which turns into 4-6-7). Ofcourse Lightweight and Cold-blooded are two great perks but I'd only use them if you have a silencer. As for tactics: The FAL is a great "control the area" gun. It's not best up close so position yourself on the map where you can overview some high traffic areas and shoot the shit out of people running through. I used it on maps like Invasion, Wasteland and Sub-base. On invasion you can set up near the middle tank and on the long side next to sniper hut. River is also a great place to be at. For Wasteland I stayed outside of the pit and shot people coming out of it or shooting people camping in there. Sub-base is easy, you just take control of the roofs and the computer room and you're set! Hope this helped.

Pros use the RDS.

I used it with SoH, SP and SA as you should with most ARs. Secondary is akimbo Raffica/G18 or a pistol (I used shotguns for a while for challenges, but the draw time is terrible).

Competitive: FAL Holo, Sleight Stopping Steady.

Stopping Power also has a great entertainment value on the FAL. OHK to the head at close-medium range means potential for humiliation kills.

SA is a waste on the FAL, you shouldn't be hip firing it unless you're in a real mess - ok it will help with your secondaries but in a FAL thread it's not a good 3rd perk for that weapon

^^^ no big deal, just that the FAL shouldn't really be classed with the other ARs even though it is one.
It's less versatile and not good at CQC, so the 'SA for all AR's' arguement doesn't really hold for the FAL as you want to avoid situations where SA would benefit it (ie. spamming for your life at a moving target 5 feet away).
When it comes to the FAL you're better off altering your playstyle so that you stick to medium/long range engagements, SA becomes redundant in that instance. However most 3rd perks are CQC related so I agree it's a small point really. However I will always opt for ninja as silence/hbs resistance is always a good option.

To be honest i ve the Fal but when i use it i always use the silencer i dunno why it just works for me. I also like to givequick fast bursts then move onto the next target thats how i use it and i can get some pretty nice killstreaks out of it.

That's a weird way to use the FAL, most players pause for 1-2 seconds between shots and then immediately run back into their spawn instead of moving onto the next target.

I personally love the FAL, just recently unlocked fall camo using the RDS instead of HOLO. Now that I have the camo though I shall be going back to the HOLO, personally I don't use the silencer on it just because I love the way it sounds when shooting lol.
