Default MW2 through the ages

Well as the MW2 age comes to an end, I figure I'll make one last thread about my experience with it.

I bought an xbox just for this game. I know right? I always played it with my friends and wanted it for myself. I got a heck of a deal though, so I can't complain.

Anyway, this was my first FPS, and of course I was clueless. Through my first prestige my favorite gun was the M16 with the holographic. I ran SoH, SP, and SA with a shotgun secondary. I thought you'd have to be an idiot to run something else. Now I hate the burst fire guns and can't justify running anything except ninja and a silencer.

I went through my first prestige not caring, just trying to learn the ropes. Toward the end I started to care about my k/d, which was about .85 at the time. I started camping, hard. I'd sit in the corner with my shotgun, or look down one alleyway with my M16. I was the camper that everyone hated. I'd play TDM and go 6-0. I did this until my k/d was 1.0, at about 8000 kills, and continued to do so for a while.

Eventually I got bored out of my mind, and discovered MLC. This was before joining a forum or even looking up MW2 online, so I had no idea how people felt about it. Of course I ran it with a silenced UMP. It was so fun! running around the map, not camping anymore. Plus it was easy to go positive, so I could continue to work on my k/d while doing so.

Eventually (2nd - 3rd prestige) I kinda settled down to a half camping, half MLC, depending upon the map. I still camped pretty hard, and hated when people killed me from behind. So I started using claymores. Then I needed more claymores, so I started using scavenger. Still, I wanted even more, so I switched to one man army. Then it frustrated me that people would run right through my claymores, so I switched to DC, hoping it would help them do more damage. I was running OMA, DC, and an M16 with a holographic when my buddy mentioned that danger close was good with the noob tube. OMALOL was born! My k/d really started to soar, and with the exception of some maps I was a full blown camper. On a side note, I got sick of other campers using a heartbeat, and started using ninja exclusively. The long draw time of the shotguns began to frustrate me, so I switched to the glocks, and eventually the M93s.

On to my 4th, 5th and 6th prestiges. I joined this board and started watching youtube videos. I learned about how people felt about MLC and OMALOL. I still noob tubed, but refused to use commando because I thought it was broken. I started actually getting better at the game. I drifted away from the M16 and on to the SCAR with a silencer. I used the RPD, which I had previously hated, and really started to like it. I now despised the UMP, I thought it was incredibly over powered. I got SitRep pro while using the TAR for the first time. It became my new favorite gun. A silenced TAR with SoH, SP, and ninja became my favorite class. The RPD with grip, SoH, SP, and SA was my second favorite. I used these two classes almost exclusively for my entire 6th prestige. My k/d had risen to something like 1.40 with 40,000 kills.

My 7th and final prestige. I decided to go for the challenges. I got 1000 kills with the AC-130 and chopper gunner. I had already got to 1000 with the predator missile and harriers, but got to 1000 kills with the precision air strike from the initial strike of my harriers alone. I called in 1000 air strikes and 1000 UAV/cUAVs. I got all the kill streak emblems, and completed all of the perk challenges besides lightweight, sitrep, and last stand. I completed many of the other challenges along the way. I was going for camos with my TAR and RPD, which I once again used exclusively. My k/d throughout this prestige was just under 2.30.

I'm still on my 7th prestige, I never moved any farther because I wanted to complete all the aforementioned challenges. Whilst running 3/4/5 and 5/6/7 I had some of the best, and most fun games of my life. I had come a long way, from camping to playing smart and aggressively with my TAR. I started to used new classes, like the ACR silenced with scav, SP, and ninja. I got to blue tiger with the ACR, but never moved passed that. I started using the UMP quite a bit again, this time with ninja instead of commando. I know it's overpowered, but it is fun to use. I still use OMALOL on some maps, where it's too good not to, and for the spawn tubes.

I might only play another hour or two of MW2 before black ops comes out, and as it stands right now I have:

a 1.68 k/d with almost 85,000 kills

750 headshots with the TAR
750 headshots with the RPD, wanted to get to 1000 with these two.
500 headshots with the UMP

600 kills with the Pavelow, the last killstreak I wanted to get to 1000 with.

200 miles with lightweight, kinda sad I won't get this one either.

just under 300 equipment destroyed with SitRep, I never even considered going for this one

1 kill with last stand, ever...haha

I have many of the titles/emblems, but am missing some of the grueling ones, or ones relating to strategies I don't use.

Overall I think it's interesting to see how my play style as evolved. I'm really looking forward to Black Ops and getting started on the right foot from the get go. I'm hoping to keep my k/d above 2, if not quite a bit higher. Can't wait!

Share your stories of the evolution of MW2!

I don't remember all the guns progressed through but I know when I first started I played a lot of HC SnD (UMP silenced, USP Silenced, SoH, CB, Ninja and Throwing Knife) which although I spent a lot of time playing it only affected my kdr slowly but it was a positive effect as I got CUAVs and Preds most games and sometimes Stealth Bombers but I don't know why I used those in HC or SnD (actually, that's a lie - they make large explosions).

I then started playing Ground War (having previously played W@W on 32p HC servers I couldn't stand 6v6 for anything other than SnD) where I recall using the UMP almost exclusively for my 1st 70 levels (SoH, SP, Ninja) then I used the M4 and ACR for most of my 1st prestige (I seemed to not really notice the SCAR, which essentially outclasses them in every way) and just before I hit 70 P1 my game crashed in such a way as to reset my stats (which also happened in W@W so despite the game stats supposedly being stored on Steam I made a backup, which I hadn't updated since before I first hit 70).

I then started again from lvl 50ish 0P, using similar weapons and killstreaks (Pred, Harrier & Pavelow) until I again hit 70 P1. I remained relatively clueless in regards to weapons (despite having looked up their stats) until about when BC2 released, I remember this because just before I bought it I tried the SCAR (primarily) and other weapons. After not playing for a few months I came back and started to use a larger variety of weapons and finally decided to use 11 killstreaks (I had previously decided they were OP enough that I shouldn't use them) and I think that increased the avg. amount of kills I get.

I, at some stage signed up to this forum after looking at it a while and slowly started to play MW2 less (or at least stopped playing for larger increments of time).

On my first prestige I tried out every weapon in the game at least once. Second and third prestige (never made it past third cause thats when my Xbox live ran out) I used Scar/Tar for my full auto assault rifles, Ump/MP5K for my smg, didn't really touch lmgs after first prestige, sniper of choice was the Barret. Also I started to only use ninja as my third perk.

I also remember playing TDM exclusively, because I thought all the other game types had bad spawns. Now I think TDM has some of the worst spawns. I shifted towards ground war, so I could still get my TDM in. Also, the massive amount of people made it easy to camp for those 11 kill streaks. Eventually I moved into exclusively playing domination, spawn trapping is fun.
