Definite weirdness on PSN tonight.

Joined an FFA. Died - ok no problem, shit happens. Respawn, died - ok, so it happens. Respawn, died immediately - hang on thinks I!? Watch killcam and WTF????

Someone is standing repeat tubing the side of a building and I mean without reloading, just shoot, shoot, shoot - at the pace of a single shot pistol. No reloading, no running out of ammo and no OMA. I was dying wherever I was on the maps and no DC either.

Final weirdness, when I arrived the nuke coming sound was already on and this guy had 1250 score and despite me dying three times, the score stayed the same!

WTF?

Never seen the like on PSN before? Anyone else?

And if the answer is modded server can someone explain how the hell one achieves that on a PS3!!? I wouldn't do it but can't see how it can be done.

It's a hack that's been out for a while. It was on Xbox near the beginning of the games cycle, now it's moved to PS3.

It's done because some people have managed to jailbreak the PS3 a few months ago. Sony have tried to patch it, but it's been worked around a couple of times. I believe a USB is involved, but I don't know the full details nor do I care about them.

Given how much IW care about the community, I'm willing to bet a huge amount of money on there being a patch soon to fix this.*

The person that was host of the lobby had a modded patch installed on their PS3, in addition to what they were doing they could derank anyone in the lobby, give all challenges, give instant level 70, and a number of other things. to do this all you need is a PS3 with 3.41 firmware on it and another PS3 with the current firmware. Once you jailbreak the 3.41 PS3 you can install a basic FTP client on it and transfer files from your PC to your PS3 over your network to places on the hard drive. You then use FTP to replace the original patch (patch_mp.ff) with a modded version on the 3.41 PS3. After you do that, you do a data transfer from the 3.41 PS3 to the PS3 with current firmware and presto chango you have a a modded patch running online.

Hope that helps you under stand how it's done. I did it so I could play the modded game modes offered in some of the patches. I had Gun Game FFA like in black ops on modern warfare 2 for instance. The same technique can be used to install patches that are more insidious in nature however.
