How to get out of the map Hidden

I have done this personally its really easy but the stuff the there is mindblowing
why this is significant
-Pipeline is out of map
-A scene from Waw is there
-And the COD 4 MISSION RUN THROUGH GHILLIE IN THE MIST IS OUT THERE


WHY WOULD IW PUT THIS IN THERE GAME UNLESS THEY EXPECTED US TO GET OUT THERE?

I have explored this for hours with friends and it never gets old!
I have gone to the edge of the map jumped off survived and gone to the corner of the map and jumped off and you know what happened? YOU FALL FOREVER

Hey,

Interesting find there and it's certainly fun to run around a bit when you're bored. Perhaps even more interestingly - this is nothing new at all. Game developers, like all programmers, are a bit lazy and if something doesn't make a difference to performance or they think the end user (us) won't notice it then they will be a bit sloppy and leave bits out or leave bits in.

For example on this occasion they have used the exact same (geographically speaking) map and concept as COD4 - why go the bother of creating and rendering an entire new map or even cutting certain bits out of the COD4 map when they can literally just copy & paste the map file from COD4 to MW2?!? It's essentially the same reason why if you go insde an object and face outwards it appears translucant - why would the game bother using up CPU/GPU power to colour in the inside of a tree when you're never supposed to be able to see it?

There are bizzare examples of lazyness all over the code for COD games. World at War, for example has some really odd weapons included in the game (because they're too lazy to delete the files) that you can't use, some examples being:

COD2mg42turret_turret (why is this on the disc when there is a COD: WaW MG42 file with much better graphics etc?)
COLT_45_Dirty_Harry (what the hell is a "colt 45 dirty harry" lol)
Hind_turret (What the hell is a helicopter's gun doing in a WW2 game lol)

All the main files in COD games start with "IW" for infinity ward, e.g. IW_00 is the first game file, IW_01 the second. I've just noticed Treyarch (who made WaW) have still called all their files IW_xx which must be a bit demoralising for treyarch staff :L

MW2 has some weird stuff to - camel noises. Why are there files for the noises that camels make? The game's code still refers to "faster rate of fire" as "double tap" (the COD4 perk) MW2 also has binoculars still - left over from COD2, I don't remember ever using binoculars in MW2?


Anyway, you get the gist. That's a pretty cool video for showing how games are built with the bare essentials, e.g. if you can't see a wall or some grass in a valley then they don't bother drawing it and if you're not supposed to get somewhere well then why do they need to make a floor for you to stand on? Please take a few moments to read our rules. You can post your own videos and even embed them but to stop spam you need to have made 50 posts before you're allowed to post a vid. Needless to say you can't spam your way to 50 posts either
