Following Activision's court filing yesterday
to add Electronic Arts as a defendant in their lawsuit against former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, an Electronic Arts spokesperson has responded to the suit, dismissing it as a "
PR play."
In a statement to the
L.A. Times, EA's Jeff Brown unsurprisingly denied any wrongdoing on EA's part. "This is a
PR play filled with pettiness and deliberate misdirection," Brown said. "Activision wants to hide the fact that they have no credible response to the claim of two artists who were fired and now just want to get paid for their work."
Activision claims in the amended lawsuit that EA co-conspired with West and Zampella to set up an independent company staffed with "key Activision employees, including designers, programmers, artists, and others from Activision's Infinity Ward development studio, thus draining the studio of talent and potentially delaying future Call of Duty games."
