This morning, Microsoft sent a press release confirming the existence of the rumored second map pack for last year's
Halo: Reach. Titled the Defiant Map Pack, this will be another three-map set that adds new Reach Achievements for an additional 150 Gamerscore, and will cost 800 Microsoft Points. The release only details a vague "March" timeframe for when we could expect the pack to go live.
What's interesting to note is the lack of Bungie in this release. Bungie isn't mentioned in the press release, nor in the trailer above; presumably, the studio is now fully focused on its new title with Activision. Instead, the press release names Certain Affinity as the developer for the Defiant Map Pack. Previously, Certain Affinity contributed to
Call of Duty: Black Ops' First Strike Map Pack by designing and building the Discovery and Stadium maps. Certain Affinity's previous
Halo experience include the Tombstone and Desolation maps for
Halo 2 (bundled within the Halo 2 Blastacular Map Pack), and the co-development of Halo Waypoint in partnership with 343 Industries.
