Call of Duty's new
online service will begin being beta tested by the public in just over a month, on July 14.
That's the "expected" start date for the invitation-only beta for Elite. The exact details and what you'll be able to access have yet to be revealed. You can, however, sign up to get a beta invite
here. You'll need a copy of
Black Ops in order to play.
Following a great deal of confusion that emerged after the Elite announcement was made, Activision
outlined what Elite will offer for free last week. All stat-tracking and social networking features will be available to everyone, while forking over for a subscription will, at the very least, get you all playable DLC and access to the new Call of Duty
web series.
