Along with a number of videos and a live demonstration of the gorgeous-looking Battlefield 3, DICE announced the game's new Battle Log functionality during EA's E3 media briefing.
It sounds similar to the social networking aspect of Call of Duty Elite that was recently announced. You can connect and communicate with other players, look up real-time statistics, create platoons, and more. This is "all 100 percent free," which is most certainly a dig at Activision and Infinity Ward for the subscription aspect of Elite (although these features in particular sound similar to what Elite will offer for free.
Gamers will have a chance to try out Battlefield 3's multiplayer ahead of the game's release with an open, multiplatform beta. This will be kicking off on September 11.
