Update: Activision is denying that such a series of events ever took place. Dan Amrich wrote on
Twitter, "Okay, checked here, and as I thought, the whole 'Bobby denied' thing is not true. Did not happen. Someone is pulling your leg, folks."
Original Story: Electronic Arts has made it very clear that Battlefield is gunning for Call of Duty. As
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's primary competition this fall, you can understand why Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Call of Duty publisher Activision, would be interested in getting to check out
Battlefield 3 for himself, a game that has been creating all sorts of buzz.
According to a source speaking with
CVG, Kotick sent his personal assistant over to the line for BF3's behind-closed-doors showing in the hopes that the CEO would get an opportunity to play the FPS. After a private discussion, an EA representative informed the assistant that management had decided "it would not be possible." After a small argument, she left, at which point the source confirmed what had happened with an EA rep. So for now, it looks as if Kotick might be waiting until the game's
beta begins in September before he's able to get his hands on it.
