Skyrim players who want to ensure they get at least the first two downloadable content packs as soon as possible will want to opt for the Xbox 360 version.
It was announced today that Bethesda has an exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft to deliver "the first two add-on content drops" for Skyrim to Xbox 360 before any other platform. Similar to Microsoft's
deal for the Call of Duty series' map packs, they'll come 30 days before they appear "anywhere else," so it sounds like this will hold back not just the PlayStation 3 version's DLC, but the PC's, as well.
It's not the first time Bethesda has agreed to a deal like this with Microsoft.
Fallout 3's DLC was initially released as a 360 and PC-exclusive, only coming to PS3
months later. Something similar happened with
Fallout: New Vegas, with the 360 getting DLC first and PC/PS3 coming a bit later. The most recent of the bunch, Old World Blues, came out at the same time on all platforms, and the same will be the case with the upcoming Lonesome Road.
