Default Game Accessory Maker Sued by George Lucas

It might be a dream scenario to play videogames with just the power of your mind, Jedi-style, and one company has gone so far as to make it happen -- complete with the name Jedi Mind, Inc. Of course, it has no affiliation with Star Wars creator George Lucas, who is now suing the company for infringing on LucasFilm trademarks.
In addition to a tic-tac-toe game and software that allows you to navigate your computer with your mind is the Master Mind application. Along with the use of a special headset, it allows you to play games like World of Warcraft and Call of Duty without a physical controller.
George Lucas isn't claiming to own the concept of doing things like this with your mind, but LucasFilm does take issue with Jedi Mind, Inc.'s usage of the term "Jedi" in both its names and Jedi Mouse software.

Wow... a good idea that we will most likely never see now due to some idiot too dumb to change the damn name. I'm betting the law suit will bankrupt the company before they can ever market their device.

Meh, they try to sue everyone.

Theres an uber handheld laz0r that is powerful enough to set things on fire. Lucas is suing them simply because it looks slightly like a lightsaber.

I don't get it. This technology sounds pretty cool, and looks interesting for those who are phisically handicapped. And the Money-hungry George lucas is still trying to get as much money as possible? That's just wrong

It's not. Jedi is a trademark, and one of the most popular things to do with Star Wars. If anything, it's the other way round. Using the Jedi name to sell their product to make more money.

No he WAS suing them. The company contacted him and they talked it out. The company explained they weren't using the lightsaber as a baseline model for when they created the laser. So, Lucas dropped the suit.


People can't go and do something that infringes copyright and then be surprised they got sued.
