We take a few guesses as to what the next three years will bring for this behemoth franchise. By: Thierry Nguyen and Tina Sanchez It used to be easy to predict Call of Duty. Infinity Ward and Treyarch would simply alternate games -- allowing each other a two year development cycle. Then Infinity Ward had to set one of their games in the modern day. And then there was that whole shakeup with Infinity Ward, along with Activision opening up Sledgehammer Games (a new studio founded by former EA executives Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, who were both involved with Dead Space). With Call of Duty: Black Ops' certified success, and the continued idea of annual COD installments, you now have three distinct studios each working on their own take on COD. Let's see if we can figure out what the next three years are going to look like for COD. Infinity Ward: Modern Warfare 3 First off, the fact that Modern Warfare 2's campaign ended in a cliffhanger makes it pretty obvious that there will be a sequel. Even with the shakeup in management, it's safe to assume that IW was at least in pre-production for MW3, and the studio might have staffed up enough by now for active development. What would we want from the next MW3? We asked 1UP resident MW superfan Tina Sanchez for her thoughts below: More... |

MW3: Meh, if it comes out, unless it's got something that seems incredibly interesting, I'm waiting till everyone else has got it.
BO2: Liking BO so far, we'll see. SpaceCod: W T F S T O P |

MW3 I would mostly buy only to see what happens campaign-wise. Then try MP if it isn't getting 1001 complaints.
BO2 I would definitely buy, I feel Treyarch can always take anoter step forward compared to previous 3arc and even IW titles. CODinSpace I would never play. I hate Halo, and that would be almost exactly like it. 1-4 futuristic guns in BO (Raygun, DG2, Thundergun, and Winter's Fury) in *only* zombies, I'm fine with. ALL futuristic guns in normal multiplayer, just no. Leave that to Bungie, doing this in the CoD series would destine the series to die a slow and painful death. |

None of these game ideas look remotely appealing. Seeing how MW3 is being developed by hollowed out IW it'll most likely be very disappointing.
I'm hoping I play Black Ops for as long as I played COD4 so roughly two years, but I'm also interested to see what else Treyarch is going to develop.
