G'day gentlemen,
I just upgraded my graphics card from an 8800GT to a 460GTX and MW2 crashes when playing online. The PC use to reboot itself with the old card but now it just crashes to the desktop...just a tadddd annoying haha. I have not played single player yet but I presume it might occur in SP as well. The game crashes to the desktop and a window error is displayed reading the following..Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: iw4mp.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4c119a5c Fault Module Name: msvcrt.dll Fault Module Version: 7.0.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bda6f Exception Code: c00000fd Exception Offset: 0000cd6b OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.4 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 45db Additional Information 2: 45db359638389f5720ff32510c7bb6a0 Additional Information 3: 11e1 Additional Information 4: 11e1430cb5b67b771b753dfc8950a5dc Read our privacy statement online: Windows 7 Privacy Statement - Microsoft Windows If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt This happens about 5min into the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated! You guys are awesome! Joe aka The Pope

So, taking "msvcrt.dll" as the issue and using google to find out what it does (wikipedia link is the most useful) it seems as if msvcrt.dll is a dll (obviously) of which each version of a certain driver (called "visual basic c++") is supposed to install it's own version of.This all sounds fairly fundamental. I'd do all the easy things first, download and install the latest: * version of DirectX * graphics card driver just incase that solves things. If not then a "repair" from the windows disc would be recommended. It goes something like this, insert disc, choose "repair" NOT "install" and then follow the instructions - it's all pretty automated. Alternatively you could try a system restore (to before you installed the new drivers for the GTX 460 - which I'm assuming you did actually do?!?!?!) although this sounds an unlikely fix.

This is getting repetitive. |
